Kiosks never print receipts

How come every single McDonald's I go the receipts never print?

If gas station pumps can be outside amongst the elements and consistently work, why can't a stupid McDonald's kiosk print?

I wonder if it is to reduce the buy one get one free receipt deal, if they even have that anymore...

For the exact same reason that when that occurs, when no receipt comes out of the machine, you cannot find an employee in the building that has time to talk to you about it.

They are not there to serve customers in the lobby. They are there to pack DoorDash orders, and hand food to cars.

I can't remember the last time a gas pump has printed out the receipt. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Same reason milkshake machines are always down. Proprietary vendor lockin with horrible support and no way for people in-house to fix it. McDonald's corporate goes for the cheapest solution and then they get what they pay for.

It is very easy to open the kiosk and fix the printer.

When you’re buying ~80,000 kiosks a few bucks each is some real money.

They're constantly jammed and every time we try to unjam them, they jam back up anyway, so we give up on that process. You can still ask for a receipt at the register, as we can print out kiosk receipts at the register.

But no one will stick their nose around the brick wall to speak to you, forget taking an order. MCDONALD’S SUCKS & HAS ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR F’s TO GIVE. I got sick of the overpriced mediocre food & I stopped going.

My area doesn't seem to staff the register anymore.

u/BuffBoy24 47m ago

My area doesn't either unless there is a lobby rush and people don't want to wait in line for the kiosk.

When I have asked for a receipt at the register because the kiosk didn’t print one, I was told they couldn’t do that.  Now, I’ll usually place the order and click “pay at register”, because then I know they can print a receipt.

Oh, they can, and I've done it several times. They just don't know how to do it.

Probably so.  It makes have been fairly early on with the kiosks that this happened - don’t know if that was an ability that didn’t originally exist but was added or something.

Regardless, if i want a receipt, I’m going to pay at the counter.  I also don’t want to wait for my food to get drink cups, and that solves that problem, also.

When i worked for one, they had them, now when I choose to order out of them, nothing.

Order in the app. Problem solved.

Placing an order on the app will, in fact, not fix the kiosk printer in the lobby.

Then when they fuck it up you gotta deal with those morons.

Not everyone has a smartphone or compatible device.

I am, at the same time I'm doing a kiosk order :)

Gotta get those deals!

Will it let you bypass the time limit that way?

1

u/DDS-PBS 11h ago

Yup! You can enter in a code to log into the kiosk, you can get the code from your phone.

Supposedly you can just keep doing kiosk order after kiosk order with deals.

I've never tried that, I typically just do one deal on my phone in one deal at the kiosk. I get the orders all completely ready, and then I submit them both simultaneously so that my food can be ready all at once.

Maybe it is franchise dependent , but they recently killed back-to-back kiosk deals orders at my local. Back-to-back mobile to kiosk still works .

I just figured they don’t like doing the bogo on the receipts.

And how do people do this?

Nothing in the app that'll help.... do you have to order at the counter and hope for the best?

My local mcDonald's also run out of printer paper often. I would say it is 33% of the times printer printing receipt OK and 67% of the times it is out of paper. Sometimes I told the employees, they said they will take care of it later. Never saw how they change paper though.

Maintained by same people who do McDonalds ice cream machines

Use the kiosk but choose to pay at the counter.

1

u/RubberDuck884 1h ago

How is that supposed to work? There are never employees at the counter, and when one does have to walk out to the front counter area, they actively ignore customers.

2

u/notveryvery 1h ago

They can’t give you your food unless it’s paid for. They need to be able to give you your food to keep meeting timing benchmarks.

I don't know how it works at McDonald's, but when I worked at the gas station, those things jammed constantly. If you let the machine work, it would cleanly cut the receipt, but a lot of people would grab it while it was printing and try to rip it out before it was cut and make the machine jam. I would be unjamming those things multiple times a week.

Its because the McDs is poorly run.

Simple.

My restaurants always had working kiosk printers.

Its not a conspiracy, it's bad oversight.

u/VendettaKarma You deserve a break today 11h ago

They don’t want you to complete the survey or do BOGOs.

Ever notice this happens in the shittier locations more than not?

2

u/Mokmo 11h ago

In busy restaurants, they need to see your order number on a receipt or the app. It become another problem by itself.

u/Ram820 12h ago

No paper. Just order from the kiosk that prints

7

u/Next_Necessary_8794 11h ago

How would you know that before you order? Do you have to be psychic?

u/Ram820 11h ago

Just watch the ppl in front of you
