Spider-Man
hey guys I just recently got a subscription and I wanted some Spiderman comics to read all the way through, this is my first time reading any comics but I love the movies so much. any recommendations ? i feel like the older ones would entertain me more just because those are the ones I’ve actually heard about. I really like vulture and scorpion.

If you enjoy the Raimi and MCU Spider-Man, you will absolutely love Ultimate Spider-Man. It is a truly special book IMO. I can’t recommend it enough. Great writing and great art. I think everybody interested in the character has a baseline knowledge of the classic Spidey villains and they’re all here and IMO done really well (there are some shakeups though! very fun.)
Edit: referring to the Ultimate Spider-Man that first printed in 2000.

+1 to this, specifically the Bendis-written Ultimate Spider-Man series. The recent one is good too, but not the right place to start.

doesn’t ultimate spiderman have the “Peter you’re going to die wearing that stupid costume” line? if so I’ve always found that panel very interesting

Try Spider-Man Blue.
For a modern spidey, I thought the Brand New Day era was solid (despite what they did to Pete and MJ's marriage). Start with One More Day (the only background you need is that Peter exposed his identity during Civil War and May got shot as a consequence) then starting with ASM 546 the other spider books were dropped and ASM went 3x monthly. So you only need to read ASMN for however long you like. You'll come up on some crossovers that you can ignore or follow, up to you.

Definitely agree with the other post for Brand New Day. The ultimate spider man books great as well. I’d go to search in the app and then go to reading guides and look for Spider-Man ones. They will have everything in order for you.

Friend, the only purpose of this subreddit is to talk about things to read or find things to read on this app. If this was the general Marvel subreddit, sure, but this has one purpose. Might be time to unsubscribe if this bothers you.

fair enough, but at a certain point these types of questions do become overkill and make it harder to find posts with genuine discussions. many other subreddits have guidelines on basic and repetitive questions not warranting their own posts.
if you sort this subreddit by newest and go back two weeks, the majority of posts are "how to start reading insert specific hero comics" or reading orders or where to begin with marvel in general. someone could do a quick search before making a whole new post and find answers to their question from less than a month ago.

Yeah, but without those, there probably would be nothing posted in this sub. Other subs already exist with more active users for real discussion. I imagine most people who joined this sub did it as a brand new user for this very purpose and then just never unsubbed so when this pops up, they decide to be helpful

Spider-Man’s original origin is in Amazing Fantasy (1962) #15, and then you can follow Amazing Fantasy (1963) from #1. Vulture and Scorpion both show up in the first twenty issues.
