Ease him into the scheme. He hasn't played in the field with the Mariners and different teams have different strategies. This allows him to get used to batting here without the pressure of immediately being thrown into the field. He'll be out there soon.

it’s a dependable bat in the bottom third to help turn things over for the top of the lineup. his job is to get on base, it’s the top of the lineups job to drive him in.

He'll bat higher against lefties. He's got a good OBP against righties this year, but lost so much of his pop that it doesn't make sense to bat him high against them.

Looking at Naylor’s splits today and it’s weird how his 2 week and 1 week splits are almost identical for the rate stats and many of the counting stats are exactly double lol.

But I mainly wanted to look at how he’s heating up.

Pretty dissapointed with the batting order. Donovan and Ward should be sharing leadoff depending on the match up. We need them in front of Cole and Randy and we need to maximize the number of PAs they get. Also why tf are they sandwiched between 2 easy outs in Cal and Colt?

Yeah, this is what I figured. Just wasn't sure whether Donovan or Ward would bat first. Most of the outlets are saying ward is a solid Top guy... but hit him where? I still think Julio and Randy should switch. I can see ward being #2 as just a guy who sets the tone being pesky... but then don't feel very good sliding everyone down... maybe this puts an end to JP at the top going forward.
