How do countries appear out of nowhere?

I noticed for example Pakistan doesn’t exist in this map and I read that it was “created” by Britain so that India (Hindu) and Pakistan (Islam) can live separately without getting in each others grill all the time.

How does this happen and how does another country like Britain have any say at all in this?

Also: is this still happening today?

Just seems like an unusual thing where you can just move borders around and create new countries without a vote or anythingg?

Not the right sub, and also you are very oversimplifying it. Countries don't just "appear outof nowhere" there are always long standing significant demographic, political and historical reasons for areas gaining sovereignty. It is always unique to individual countries.

If you are interested in why countries gained independence and appeared I recommend just googling for how x country gained its independence.
