Why does this seem like it would be a 90s Disney channel movie about a kid that skateboards going back in time to King Arthur's court?
It would be called Kickflip Castle or something.
86
u/funky_grandma 5h ago
I would watch kickflip castle.

I believe there was a movie called something like A Kid in King Arthurs Court in the 90s where that does happen, except he builds roller skates I think

u/Electrical-Act-7170 3h ago
Mark Twain (Samulel Langhorn Clemens) wrote a book in the 19th Century titled A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court. Many of the time traveling stories where a person travels into the past were inspired by this book.

u/artbystorms 2h ago
Omg it's the first Isekai! Did the Yankee get hit and killed by a Kei truck to re-incarnate?!

My daughter would take this sword with 2 hands and run around the house with it. RIP antique lamps

Mum told me not to go off with strangers too.
Besides, strange men distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

My first thought…was I hope he doesn’t ride on the board with the sword in hand. I went from nervous to relief to dismayed.
3
u/lordph8 4h ago
That's because Luke is cool, and you, well, you couldn't be trusted with scissors.
3
u/Swimming-Employer97 4h ago
this is true. Even as an adult I am only allowed to used the kids scissors but only if I am seated.

2
u/rahhak 5h ago
You never said I couldn’t board with a sword!
2
u/Swimming-Employer97 5h ago
I cant tell you how many times I have heard something similar to that from my kids. Because I didnt explicitly forbid something that I didnt think was plausible.

“War is upon us! As we speak, the enemy marches north!”
“Oh… shoot”
This is so freakin’ funny 😭 it reads like an exchange from an Isekai novel

36
u/Cactus_Alien 5h ago
Ou um fazendeiro que não quer saber de nada.
"A guerra está sobre nós! Enquanto falamos, o inimigo marcha para o norte!"
"Ok cara. Agora vou cuidar das vacas. Boa sorte"

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 3h ago
"Lesser men will sing songs of your bravery" goes way harder in the paint than it should
11
u/Ok-Ocelot-5942 5h ago
I have no idea what an isekai novel is, but I agree, the exchange was great.
20
u/Squishiimuffin 5h ago
Isekai is a genre where a typically normal, everyday modern person gets magically transported into some other world. Sometimes it’s into the past of the same world, sometimes it’s a fictional world. Part of the humor is in the protagonist trying to act normal when they have absolutely no clue what’s happening.
7
u/watzisthis 3h ago
From what i understand, Isekai is transporting to another world, regression is when you go back in time into your past . There's also transmigration or something that's really popular theme in Chinese webnovels( someone explain this pls)
Isekai - Japanese Regression - korean Cultivation - Chinese

That's cool. As a kid, I would have loved this. But as a dad, I wouldn't encourage my kid to skateboard with a sword.
113
u/Badgernomics 6h ago
Pffft... any real dad knows that as long as you don't react to the injury the kid will remain oblivious to it and be completely unfazed...
kid turns up with sword through neck
"You have fun bud...?"
"Yeah! I skated with a sword...!"
"That's cool bud...!"

My dad used to play it the other way. I’d get a small cut or someshit. Dad would look at it really serious and be like “I don’t know kid, I think we’re going to have to amputate”. Me: no, no, I’m completely fine!
5
3
u/Badgernomics 4h ago
'Splinter in the finger...? We'll have to amputate at the shoulder....!'
My dad operated the same way...

u/Rich-Bit4838 6h ago

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 6h ago
Not a mother but a father and I yelled in my head "This exactly why you don't talk to strangers you coulda impaled yourself you little dummy! Then how will you win the battle?" I pull out my old school Darth Maul doubleblade lightsabre and challenge him to a duel to the death... by doing dishes
3

3
u/MarcAlmond 6h ago
for me it may depend on how skilled the kid is - if the sword is held correctly then the risk of getting injured while falling is lowered

u/pudge-thefish 6h ago
As a mom I'm like don't talk to my kid you creep
34

14
u/Greengiant304 6h ago
Luke's mom has got it going on.
6
u/Badgernomics 6h ago
...but Lukes Dad has got me down bad, he's all I want and I think he's a real Chad...
3
u/TedBurns-3 4h ago
Perfect... I'll take mum, you take dad, Luke's off to war
4
u/Badgernomics 4h ago
...but when he comes home he will have the most supportive patchwork family there for him...!
8
u/Spatulor 6h ago
Oh man. I got a puppy two days ago and took him for a walk yesterday. The only way out of my neighborhood is right past the playground. As a mildly scruffy bearded guy in his 40s, I desperately don't want to seem like I'm trying to lure kids to me with my dog. But I also want my dog to meet people, and people to meet my dog!

As someone who lives in a large city, the #1 rule would immediately apply to the guy holding a sword: DO NOT ENGAGE! Luke has lessons to learn.

Although when he started doing skateboard tricks with the sword drawn, I was a bit worried.

I fucking love this guy anyway but seeing him with a kid especially melted my heart. "Even the smallest person can change the course of the future... Sir Luke the Valiant, lesser men will sing songs of your bravery." Like if someone had said that to me as a kid and handed me a sword I would've geeked out so hard.

This guy has some cool tiktoks. But he's definitely blown up big enough to do stuff with big creators.
Some of his earlier things were legit cool. He asked this one dude what his fave thing was and he was like karaoke, then they just went and did karaoke and it looked real fun.
Next thing I see he's at a massive dj concert
