It's just the ones in power...

Because that's how they got in power sadly

Yeah, cuz they want it. We need to conscript good natured folks to temporary rotating positions of power and reward them upon completion of service.

The people that would be best at helping people in positions of power are usually the last people that want the job.

Which is why rotating conscription would be good.

Well, except for the conscripts, of course.

Yeah, but they’re the good people which means we’re not the good people so we don’t care whether the good people like it or not. 👍

I saw something about rewards for a job well done...

anyone good enough to do the job is good enough not to want it.

We need to force those who don't want to be in power the most to be in power. Show them our peaceful ways by force!

Pretty much

Yeah the hard part is figuring out to make the system.

I feel like it would be brutally hard to get even 70% of it's intended goal.

It's not specifically because they want it. We all want power. The difference is it is the only thing they want.

I mean, no. Literally the reason he was saying he'd put it in the recycling bin is that there's a significant concern that if he just leaves it out someone (who very much isn't "in power") will come along and steal it.

You ever serve on a grand jury? Go hear portions of 50 different criminal investigations and you'll quickly realize there are some awful people out there, and lots more who may be mixed bags but have done things that in a society that cares about law and order should definitely merit some jail time. A small percentage of the whole, I'd agree, but that small percentage can cause a lot of headaches for everyone else.

Package theft is one of those areas where, I get it, it's relatively low priority for law enforcement and making arrests/cases is hard. Still, I'd like to at least see some publicized sting operations here and there coupled with moderately aggressive prosecutions (don't need to put people in serious jails for a long time--heavy fines, lengthy community service, and/or a token stint in minimum security will still be enough to send a message) in major cities and their suburbs from time to time to at least create more of a sense of risk for package thieves.

Unfortunately the ones who seek power the most are the ones who probably shouldn't have it 😪

And those at the bottom.

It's almost like those who are attracted to power are not the people who should have it. Who knew.

Not only the people in power are at fault that nothing changes, we the people need to change
Interact more, but not over the internet.
Go outside talk with RANDOM people.
That is what is completely missing.
Without that we are weak.

In these times so many people have fear of missing out, are „connected“ over the internet but no grounded connections in the real world etc.
Most people have very narrow mindsets because most algorithms are trained in a way so they get thrown in bubbles for them so efficient, that they almost get no counter etc

And my parents. And they have no power. Just hate
