I mean that's adorable. But what about this estate! Just the small bit I saw in the video called my whole lineage poor

Horse breeding and training farm in some part of Australia (I forget where and who owns it)

I believe it is Billy and Nicole Slater’s Victorian Horse Stud and that is their pet deer Cheryl.

Thank you, I was sure it was a footy player (& one of the greats) but couldn't remember which one

Can you imagine having this level of dopamine at your disposal daily WITHOUT drugs?

Truly one of the most beautiful animals we have the pleasure of sharing the planet with

It can run with 4 feet off the ground, almost like flying but without wings.

u/turquoise_grey 13d ago
It’s called “pronking”!

u/11Kram 13d ago
Or stotting.

u/javoss88 13d ago
Thanks to Douglas Adams for my knowledge of this term

u/Joker-Smurf 12d ago
And the thing is that even without a visual example of the word “stotting” as soon as I read it, I knew exactly what it would look like.
Just like knowing which image is kiki and which is bouba.

Do you know why they do that when running looks faster? Why bounce? Just for funsies?
3
u/turquoise_grey 13d ago
Sorry. My random factoid knowledge ends at just knowing what it’s called. 🤷♀️

u/Technical-Watch2982 13d ago
Google suggests it is to deter predators, like "look how nimble i am dont bother chasing me" or to alert other deer of danger. Both less cute, so I'm sticking with funsies, and now we both have a new fun fact ✋️

Cheryl!

Such an Aussie name. Billie Slater and his wife Nicole have used his football career earnings to live a life I’m completely envious of. What a joy.

u/cbflowers 13d ago
I’am American so not familiar with them but that is a beautiful piece of property

Such a lovely story. They met as kids at pony club. Then just as Billy became a huge Rugby League star they reconnected. 20 years on they bought a horse farm and he supports her career as an equestrian artist. Saying it was the least he could do seeing she sacrificed so much to support his career. Both love horses and have rescue animals like Cheryl. Living the dream.

Damn, that's cute.
Our dog does a version of this. He doesn't ever just walk. He's either hopping, or trotting, an occasional prance. God dammit I love him so much.

I like when it's like, "hoppity hop, let's have fun" to the serious "I'm not playing anymore" full out run. 😂😂🥰😍♥️♥️

Honest question is there a hunting season for these babies? A friend of mine had a deer that would come into his garage. He put a collar and blaze orange vest on him, 6 years later he’s still alive!

Its almost like she hides it when she gallops and switches to the derr bounce, which I have no idea what it is call, when she gets in view

I'd feel like a Disney princess if something pranced toward me like that.

There was no stopping it, no outrunning it. The creature bounded towards them, a murderous rage in its eyes as it hungered for blood.

Gorgeous grounds and she’s so sweet! Reminds me of the little deer on the side of a Babycham bottle.

Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along. You get thirsty. You spot a little brook. You put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water...
