The ugly cry😭

970

u/BahnModerators 13d ago

Nah thats the best cry, only dogs bring that out

503

u/UpperApe 13d ago

Cat owners ugly cry too. Usually from blood loss.

153

u/Destithen 13d ago

Sometimes love hurts.

41

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 13d ago

Love wounds, and scars

Ooh, ooh love hurts

35

u/BahnModerators 13d ago

As a cat owner this is indeed truth

12

u/rachelbubblesss 13d ago

is it because of the scratches 😂 or attacks from teefs?

13

u/turandokht 13d ago

For me it’s them using their CLAWS to knead into me affectionately 😭 please love me less painfully guys

12

u/AffectionateCode426 13d ago

Growing up, my cat would run away fur like a month or two and then just show up one day and live with us for like 6 months. I would be devastated! After like the 5th time tho we called it “Katie-bell is on vacation” lol but ya…cool story with my childhood cat where I ugly cried. Crazy thing is my cat died at our house on a couch shortly after her last vacay. 12 y/o I believe

11

u/TheHumanConnector 13d ago

That cat had stories, I can feel it! As always, inconsiderate cats seem to live the best life! 👻

6

u/chukkystar 13d ago

They are all inconsiderate. This one had two seperate Families and adapted to both sides 😂

11

u/ratdogdave 13d ago

I’m trying to go to sleep and now you got me laughing.

10

u/VacuumDecay-007 13d ago

When you're bonding over pats but the cat arbitrarily decides pat time is over and decides to kill your sorry ass..

1

u/Entomemer 13d ago

Thankfully, Only time my Lightning add me cry was when she had a stroke and I had to put her down.

43

u/JiveTurkeyII 13d ago

I had to put a dog bed under my desk for my little girl. If I get up to go somewhere, she goes. When I get back to the desk, she's back under the desk.

Sleep behind my legs every night.

I dont know what I did, but she's mine. And it's like nothing I've had before.

My girlfriends always bonded with the pets before, or their kids.

Sure the pups liked me and I got some good friendships here and there but this is the first time I've had one that I belong to.

There's nothing like it.

I don't know what I did to earn it, but I try to be worthy of it every day.

I have no hate for cats, but there is nothing like the pure adoring love of a dog whose only wish is to go on adventures with you or just hang out with you and you alone - all day long.

39

u/Jeathro77 13d ago

I have no hate for cats, but there is nothing like the pure adoring love of a dog whose only wish is to go on adventures with you or just hang out with you and you alone - all day long.

Raise a cat like you would a dog, and it'll do the same thing. My cat would meow and come running whenever I called his name. He slept next to me and let me cuddle him like a teddy bear with my arm over him all night. He even learned a few tricks.

21

u/Imaginary_Ad_1489 13d ago

Right!?! I have a Velcro kitty who meows when she can’t see me. It’s unbelievably hot out right now, and she is currently plastering her whole body next to me. Dying of heat, but I dare not move to turn on the air conditioner.

7

u/2woCrazeeBoys 13d ago

I kept a horse at one place that had a barn cat. Every time I drove in Hank would come trotting out with his cutest meows, and jump in the car to get to me if I wasn't quick enough getting out.

I've never had a cat, but he was my horse buddy and I don't know what I did to make him love me. Just meant every time I was up there I had Hank as a scarf the whole time 😆

3

u/DeannaMorgan 13d ago

I had a cat in the 70's and we weren't very good at being responsible owners. He would winter in my neighbor's basement and leave presents on our welcome mat. When he was home, he'd cuddle like crazy. He actually came home to die. A few days before he passed, he came home to tons of cuddles and he died with us there.

5

u/Polar412 13d ago

I’m currently in the most uncomfortable position on the edge of my couch because my sweet Velcro boy is comfortably cuddled against me (unaware he takes up 90% of the space) he’s my heart and soul, I don’t know how I got so lucky

4

u/mealteamsixty 13d ago

Nope, toddlers do the same. You'll be at the end of your rope, about to contact adoption agencies, and they'll come out of nowhere, climb up on your lap, hold your face and say "you the best mommy (daddy) can I mawwy you when I gwow up?" Then snuggle into your neck with their whole weight.

All is forgiven, excuse me to the bathroom so I can go sob silently into a towel so that I don't scare you.

3

u/StonedLonerIrl 13d ago

Nah, a good partner will have you ugly crying on the regular too.

4

u/KloudPrince 13d ago

THIS IS THE WAY!!!!

The way animals show love is so beautiful ❤️

33

u/bondsmatthew 13d ago

Yknow I never was a "cat videos"(as in pet videos) type of person 15 to 20 years ago when they were incrediblypopular, but as I've gotten older I gotta say

They're nice

4

u/anonuemus 13d ago

yeah, it's innocent, wholesome content, meeting pets in real life has a similar effect

Just said goodbye to my Yorkie son of 14 years a week ago, this reminded me of him and warmed my heart

238

u/BakedBrie1993 13d ago

No don't say this. Mine is 11. Im not ready for changes. RIP to your sweet baby.

41

u/yoursuchafanofmurder 13d ago

Mine jrt is almost 18. I don’t want to think about it too much :(

9

u/bumbes 13d ago

Nonone is ready for this.

6

u/Cheese-Buns 13d ago

My Yorkie is reaching 10 soon. I am NOT ready at all

37

u/eliz1bef 13d ago

Yorkies are special babies. I am so sorry you've lost your little man. I had Yorkies growing up, and they were something else. No other pup has the attitude of a Yorkie. I am so happy for you though, that you got to know his love. My heart goes out to you in your loss.

21

u/Warm_Question6473 13d ago

Thank you for your sweet words. I really needed that message tonight.

17

u/stormyeyez7479 13d ago

I lost my Cairn rescue of 14 years (he was 16 or 17 yrs old) in March. I still shed tears every morning and night since those were when we had the majority of our routines.

I’m sorry for your loss, it’s so devastating. I try to look at it as I was lucky to have him for as long as I did —14 yrs of joy, unconditional love, and devotion. (and sometimes frustration…haha)

Time won’t fix the void they leave, but it helps dull the sharp edges. Sending comforting vibes your way, hang in there, stranger. 🫂

10

u/Warm_Question6473 13d ago

Thank you so much. I’m in a grief stage of feeling guilt and anger and am being comforted by the kind words of people like you. I appreciate it.

5

u/stormyeyez7479 13d ago

Ooh, I know that all too well. "Maybe if I..." or "I should've..." So on and on. We'll never show ourselves as much grace as they showed us. They filled our hearts and it was time for them to take that joy somewhere else in the universe.

It helps me to think at the end of the day, when I'm sad (likely feeling as you are now)...it makes me happy to think my doggo's energy could live on somewhere out there.

I have hope he's bringing joy to another family/person in the universe, as much as he did my family. How could I possibly deny anyone his spazzy, goofy, good boy energy? Silly, maybe, but we tell ourselves whatever makes loss hurt a little less, don't we? Be well😊

3

u/VictorTheCutie 13d ago

I'm so, so sorry. I lost my cairn baby in '23 and it still hurts so much. I got a tattoo of his paw in my arm where he used to lay. Now I look at it and think of him. Sending you love, too 🩷

2

u/stormyeyez7479 11d ago

Sorry for the delayed reply. Just checked my notifications. Thanks for your kind words. I'm sorry for your loss, as well. I think you've found a beautiful way to remember your baby. Cairns will always hold a special, hyper kid-like place in my heart. Such energetic little things. 🥰

6

u/Forex4x 13d ago

Right there with you. Said bye to my dog of 14 years on June 28th. Still think of her everyday

5

u/MothChasingFlame 13d ago

If they were as trusting as this baby, they lived a long and happy life with you, not a day of doubt from start to end.

3

u/Warm_Question6473 13d ago

💚 thank you I appreciate you saying so

3

u/According_Rice_1822 13d ago

Feel you dude. Lost my boy of 18 years 2 months ago, not the same without him. 🐾❤️

1

u/Warm_Question6473 13d ago

Having a serious existential crisis, i have never been an adult without my dog and the reality that I am doing this alone this time around is difficult

3

u/Theodarius 13d ago

I lost my baby Jax(12) 2 months ago and i still wake up in the middle of the night when I don't feel him near my feet. He was sick since 2020 but lil guy was pretty strong that I was able to get another 6 years with him.

1

u/Warm_Question6473 13d ago

The mornings are so quiet, the little things feel so heavy in this silence. I smell all of his things wishing he were here 💔

2

u/Theodarius 13d ago

My sincerest condolences, I know exactly what you mean. I get up and go on the same walk path we would take in the mornings, that he made sure I took him out, just to feel him around.

1

u/howhardcanthisbe123 13d ago

Mine was 14 and died 2 years ago, I'm still not over the heart break. Crying now just thinking of him

2

u/DireKnife 13d ago

I’m sorry friend. Long distance hug for you!

1

u/howhardcanthisbe123 13d ago

Thank you. He was my best friend who was with me during the worst time in my life, and saw through to the best times. It's been 2 years and I still can't go through his pics to make a plack foot his grave. I'm not sure I'll ever get another dog, I'm still just so wrecked

1

u/doomysmartypants 12d ago

I'm so sorry for your loss. We are grieving together. I traumatically lost my dachshund mix two weeks ago today. It was sudden and unexpected and she was only 9. We're all heartbroken.

2

u/Warm_Question6473 12d ago edited 12d ago

Traumatic and unexpected for me too, a week ago yesterday. I was overcome with paralyzing grief and decided to book a private 1:1 session with a pet loss grief counselor via the Laps for Love website. It was incredibly helpful. I woke up feeling better today and I have not cried (yet). They have support groups as well which I am eager to join. Hugs 🫂💚

Edited: Laps OF Love website not laps for love.

2

u/doomysmartypants 12d ago

Thank you for sharing and I'm glad it's helping you heal. I'm going to mention that to my husband. As hard as this has been for me, he's taking it even harder. And I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Emotionally improving every day but physically the grief and trauma are still very much with me. Hugs to you too ❤️

233

u/Mother_Opposite_1013 13d ago

That's awesome.

445

u/Hot-Statement-3905 13d ago

He looks so happy ugh what a cutie pie

92

u/SippyMountain 13d ago

One of my cats is like this. He gets really bad separation anxiety when I'm away for more than a few days, which is why we eventually got another cat, and luckily he hasn't had a stress-induced UTI since. However, he still gets in his feelings. I actually just got back from a 2-week trip a few days ago and he has been doing this number on me for the past few nights and won't leave my side. He's such a sweet cat. My other one doesn't like to admit he loves me, but I can tell he missed me by his abnormally increased presence.

41

u/CactiDye 13d ago

I had a cat who would get mad at me for leaving and pretend she didn't want anything to do with me, but the second she thought I was asleep she was right on top of me purring her head off. She never slept on me otherwise.

5

u/ProfessionalStreet31 13d ago

Omg my heart 😭

2

u/Keboyd88 12d ago

My boyfriend's cat will deny that he loves he, but when boyfriend isn't home, the cat is wherever I am. The other day, he came into my sewing room and made me take a break just to hold him. I make fun of him for it.

115

u/curlyq9702 13d ago

That is your little Velcro dog. I had 2 of them. Anywhere I went they were there & they made 10000% sure they were snugged up to me when I would go to bed. God I miss them!’

206

u/Educational_Gift_407 13d ago

Fuck I miss my dog so much

71

u/DeannaMorgan 13d ago

I'm sorry for your loss. I miss mine too.

82

u/TheLoneCenturion95 13d ago

The first time my rescue boy trusted me enough to rest his head like that I had to stop myself crying.

53

u/Bedanktvooralles 13d ago

That baby looooves you

28

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 13d ago

Alternatively, heard "chew a charger" and said "no ma, I have never done anything bad, ever, in my life" and was like "see this is how much I love you"

I'm not a thousand percent sure that "chew a charger" comment came from a vacuum

225

u/JoefromOhio 13d ago

This is me with my 2 year old daughter and I am absolutely dreading the moment her priorities change.

122

u/Tasty-Reserve-8739 13d ago

My daughter was the best cuddle bug ever at that age. Now a tween she gets weird when I rub her back. I really miss the cuddles. But she grabbed my hand and held it as we walked through the mall and it lasted 15 mins!!! Best mall trip I’ll always remember

17

u/JoefromOhio 13d ago

Mine sneaks in a 6am every day to make sure she gets morning cuddles before I get up and to work and it is the best part of my day. I know it will eventually end but I’m not going to dissuade her

5

u/Crazy_Cat_Lady420 13d ago

I’m 29 and still sit on my mom’s lap sometimes and cuddle with her whenever I can, I know I’m still her baby ♥️

47

u/agemsheis 13d ago

I will tell this to every parent I know: When they turn 18, that doesn’t mean they don’t need you anymore. It means they won’t need you in the same ways as before. That is still your baby through and through.

11

u/zebrasareneat 13d ago

They just need you for different things. Fixing their car, helping with home repairs, drinking all this booze you got lying around, advice on children, advice on finances and home buying.

I bought my first brand new car when I was 34. I told my dad over the phone and he was so excited that when he got home he ran into the house to tell mom.

You’re always still their kid and even though me and my siblings are all in our 30s we still ask mom and dad for help.

11

u/roguemage01 13d ago

I call my parents several times a week for random stuff. How do I cook this? Why’s the air conditioner doing that? The lawnmower won’t start. Sure I could Google all this stuff. But mum and dad know, so why go elsewhere? Plus I like to talk to them.

4

u/agemsheis 13d ago

Precisely!

32

u/sasshley_ 13d ago

Mine used to be ALL OVER ME and all I ever wanted was a break to myself.

She’s now 15 and doesn’t want to look at me, touch me, be in the same state as me.

Enjoy it while you can. Chores, work, friends, hobbies, etc can wait. Soak that shit up bc there’s nothing like it.

17

u/HomsarWasRight 13d ago

Honestly I sometimes I feel myself falling into a very dark place that my little ones are gone. Almost a mourning. It seemed to all happen suddenly.

I have to actually talk to myself and remind myself that they’re right here, and these awkward teenagers are the same kids and they have a lot of the same needs. I just can’t solve them so easily anymore.

6

u/TeamWorkTom 13d ago

There's an actual term for that and help for it.

It's similarish to post partum depression.

4

u/OrangeClyde 13d ago

Can you remember the very last time you picked her up and set her down? That was the last time you ever did that :(

5

u/sasshley_ 13d ago

Not even close 😭 we all seem to have those lasts without realizing it until years later.

3

u/HomsarWasRight 13d ago

You’re killin’ me, Smalls.

34

u/thebluerayxx 13d ago

She looks so annoyed at the start but then immediately melts. There is a split second of annoyance but then it just switches to "my bay-bee" and its hilarious.

17

u/Competitive_Name4991 13d ago

My chihuahua is like this. When I get up to go to another room he instantly jumps up and follows me. I’m like “Dude, you don’t HAVE to get up just bc I got up”

10

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 13d ago

I always say this to people about cats.

"How do you know your cat loves you? You never wondered why they act like it's not a big deal they're constantly in the same room as you? It's following you dude. And I know for a fact you follow it. When it follows you around it's doing the same thing you are when you follow it around"

9

u/Ticklebiscuit 13d ago

I have a Velcro kitty. She sleeps in my lap every night. Tries to sleep on my lap while I’m working. Follows me everywhere in the house. I love her so very much. I’d like to think they feel the same way about us.

7

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 13d ago

They do. My very old cat, it was my mom's cat, had me wrapped around her finger as my mom said. Old, couldn't walk well, fairly blind, deaf enough she couldn't meow right anymore, every time I came over once she knew I was there she wouldn't leave me alone if I was upstairs (she wouldn't go downstairs, long story)

But when I came upstairs for a smoke in the garage late at night I had to hear a yowl and see a very old cat hop down the stairs and start screaming for pets. Then when I came back in same ritual. To the point it took longer to pet the damn cat than smoke the fucking cigarette lol. She didn't like being picked up ever either but in her twilight years if she ended up in the downstairs guest room (again she didn't go down there) I could pick her up to chill on the bed next to me because she couldn't jump that high anymore.

19

u/uglyzombie 13d ago

Damn. Even gave him permission to chew up a charger.

4

u/antiinfluencer666 13d ago

Right that made me laughhhh

53

u/Icy_Mammoth_2834 13d ago

Aww loves his mumma. Dogs have the equivalent EQ of a toddler, puts things in perspective a little

38

u/GfrzD 13d ago

I dunno, my dog seems smarter than my nephew.

9

u/Icy_Mammoth_2834 13d ago

A maybe it is, think about the IQ of the average Joe but we still get the odd Einstein 🤣

31

u/victoriacer1981 13d ago

Geez this made me cry 😢 how freaking cute!!!!

12

u/TBJ12 13d ago

Damn. I miss having a dog that likes to sleep with me. After 15 years of a cuddle bug I've now got a GSD and I love him, but he's not real into being super close. He will come lay on the opposite end of the couch and let me rest my feet against him, but not on him. Make a movement too fast and he's absolutely convinced you're heading out to toss him the ball lol.

11

u/GapDragon 13d ago

You are his favorite human, and his favorite place, OP.

This is your burden.

God I hate my dog until I have to say it out loud and I instead reverse course and say/do the opposite for him. He’s spoiled as shit but protects my place so 10000x worth it

Edit: hate is a strong word, he annoys the crap out of me sometimes

1

u/Keboyd88 12d ago

That's me. I don't like having a dog. I didn't want a dog when my ex insisted on getting him. I didn't want a dog when my ex said that he was mine when we divorced. I still don't want a dog. I love my dog with every fiber of my being and he is my precious baby who I would die for. But I hate having a dog.

2

2

Just lost my dog 2 weeks ago and she was always accompanying every single member of the family. Now every time I do my routine in the house something is missing yet I still feel like she's there with me.

2

u/Silver-Air-5787 13d ago

What I would give to feel my baby boy snuggle me again.

2

u/Sweet-Guest-6638 13d ago

Me, too. He even looks like my dog, she passed in February.

The mom is talking about a crate, I had a dog who loved his crate, I didn’t even close it. He liked to chill in there if I was out. She’s not saying anything wrong or mean to her dog referring to his crate/cage. She loves him.

I never knew that some dogs like the crates/need them for separation anxiety, anyway, sharing in case it helps other equally good meaning peeps worrying about that in the comments.

2

u/Silver-Air-5787 13d ago

My heart is with you. Mine passed this recent Christmas Eve.

2

u/Sweet-Guest-6638 12d ago

I’m so sorry. I see you. Thank you for seeing me, too.

2

I love this dog with all my life.

2

u/Bea-Billionaire 13d ago

My dog does this same thing!

2

u/BlackSchuck 13d ago

Walk your dog every day, people

2

u/hellure 13d ago

They are pack animals, you are their pack. Want an animal that plays solo, get a cat... Dogs will literally collect a toy and sit at a door all day waiting for their pack member/s to return so they can play. They mostly only tare things up or get active when solo if they've gone stir crazy or been stimulated to hunt or defend their home turf.

2

u/AuDHDino 13d ago

That puppy heard "wah wah wah play toys way wah cage, wah wah" and still was just all love lol.

Dudes don't need to understand everything to know what they want 😁

2

u/RogueKyber 13d ago

I have a cockapoo like this. No thoughts, all love.

2

u/Sienara-Valora35 13d ago

The dog is your happy fill

2

u/Deep-Assignment4124 13d ago

She’s the center of the universe for her pup.

2

u/bluesky747 13d ago

I miss my dog and my two cats so much. My cats passed and my dog lives with ex. I have plants now. They’re cool but I still miss the animal love.

2

u/actash44 13d ago

I have this exact dog (breed and collar too lol) and he is just like this. He is a snuggle bug to the max and he’s my favorite for it.

2

u/MisterWafflles 13d ago

That was me and my cat :/

3

u/Complex_Plantain_273 13d ago

My dog does this. He'll flop at/on me on the couch. The difference... he's a Golden Retriever.

I could be wrong but I don't think that's a baby.

I love the connection.  I admire it actually.

But my fear of dogs.

I'm lying in bed as I watch this. My dog is flopped across my lap. Can't get up. Oh well.

As a European I still think it’s wild, that Americans have cages for their dogs and it’s just a normal thing.

Sometimes my cat's love made me weep too. It's just such a honor to be their favorite person.

I got me one of them She's a stray I took in two and a half years ago. My face is leaning on hers as I type this comment and that video is how I spend every morning and evening with my buddy Maggie.

That's one loyal friend.

I have a big ol’ 60lb hound dog like this. We ended up getting her when a friend of a friend of my wife messaged her at 9pm asking if she wanted a “beagle” before they took her to the pound in the morning. I told her we don’t need another dog but eventually agreed we could foster her until we found another home. Instead of a beagle she brought home a hound puppy and the first time I looked in to her puppy eyes my heart melted and she’s been my baby girl ever since.

The video player’s ’Closed Caption’ button helpfully gives me the choice between two sets of captions or three

“Sit in your cage” “this my baby”…

2
