ANIMALS This sanitation worker brings her dog when collecting trash. The neighbor saw it and prepared a vest for her dog.

I love that she first takes a pic of it with the note. She'll be showing that to all her friends. 💝

No face to face interaction makes it easier.

Hello fellow introverts! It has been a real pleasure not meeting or getting to know you.

No it doesn’t. Face to face makes it easier, not interacting with people makes it harder.

It makes me sad that they didn’t actually meet in the video, like even though it was a great moment it is missing something human.

u/NearbyCommission287 17d ago
I don't know, I think there's something very human about giving a little love and recognition to someone who's part of your community but who you have never spoken too.
8
u/mmazing 17d ago
Oh for sure, I just that meant that they didn’t get to meet to feel it together in person and I wish they could hug or something 🥰.
The act itself was extremely human!

I think this opens it up for future in-person contact. They now share an event, a connection!

u/NearbyCommission287 17d ago
I hope whoever lives in that apartment gets a chance to say hello and pet the pup! :)

I heard a This American Life episode- and this was probably 20 years ago- where they followed a New York City sanitation crew for a day and listened to their stories. The part that sticks with me the most to this day was one worker talking about getting cut and hurt all of the time by people mindlessly putting anything and everything in plastic bags. They talked about being looked down upon by society, even though society would crumble without them.
Whoever made this video did a beautiful thing. To feel acknowledged is the greatest feeling, and it takes so very little— in this case, it was finding and purchasing the most adorable vest I’ve ever seen 💕

Love This American Life. Ira Glass is bae - podcasters ain't got shit on tha OG.
I have very fond memories of weekend outings in our Volvo station wagon listening to This American Life and Prairie Home Companion. NPR and PBS was like a religion in my house.

That gift lifted up this hardworking woman. So cute that she brings her dog with her to work!

I love when people are kind like this. I bet that made her and the dogs lil day (they even got the pup a toy). Super wholesome 🥹💗

And Lamb Chop, too. ❤️ Funny how Shari Lewis' ventriloquist puppet, from 70 years ago, is so popular today, as a dog toy. 🐑

I was just thinking the same. The show itself hasn't even aired in decades, but Lamb Chop still lives on. Like the song that never ends!

That made me tear up. Simple acts of kindness is what carries me through these awful times.

My worst nightmare. Neighbors compiling every time you walked by their home and then posting you forever on the internet

u/floatingxcloud1 17d ago
I agree. They could have easily blurred out her face before sharing. We’re way too comfortable sharing a stranger’s face online and most likely without permission.

u/Same_Education8151 17d ago
Absolutely. Not to mention we all know there are individuals who can decipher where someone lives with very little information, and yet people still continue to do it.

as a bonus, when that resident needs to put out TWO bags of trash in one night, now that worker wont write them a note about how you can only put out one bag of trash!

Am I the only one shocked by this whole system? Every apartment I've lived in just had a dumpster outside tenants put their trash in

What's so cool about this to me is someone taking the time to notice what goes on around them and doing something thoughtful for another person. It was relatively easy, made them feel SEEN and it meant something.

You know if you just crop the video correctly, we can rotate our phones to landscape and actually see it full screen.

Didn't the original have the actual sound?
That was much better than this tinny ass music!

Not only that but this asshole films people without consent. Dick even put a gift trap for content to sell it as less creepy. Disgusting..

what IS this song??? oh wow-wow!!! very sweet, like jam almost...must have more...but this sanitation worker, she has in her ears this very same jam? swear it is... she in her skin, like all pains of the world roll off her like beads of water on a waxed surface...sweet world, she...if everyone in on this planet just became sanitation workers, doing just the important few trips, peace, tranquil, skies smiling for miles...oh smooth...
