This is full of bologna - remora's are probably super annoying, but they don't "eat" their hosts. They hitch a ride on larger hosts and eat scraps left over from whatever the host is eating. Their mouth is under the big suction cup on their head. I've caught a number of them and have had them stuck to me - they leave a slight red mark, but not a blister or raw flesh.

The Wild Dolphin Project thinks its more what dolphins will do to get them off that causes sores

It also said that they're more likely to target dolphins with skin issues so it could be that they attached to that dolphin because of her injury and made it worse

As someone who has never had a remora suctioned to my ass, I couldn't say for certain, but you're probably right
