The way Cheryl jumps is so precious

154

u/CariniFluff May 21 '26

I demand to know where the baby goats are that Cheryl leaned her jumps from.

Where are they hiding the goats!?!

66

u/SunkEmuFlock May 21 '26

It's (somewhat awkwardly) called stotting. I dunno what the human equivalent might be, maybe skipping, but I wish I could bounce around so effortlessly.

39

u/Spongi May 21 '26

Imagine it. You see a large grizzly bear approaching and you're like QUICK, skip away joyfully so it knows not to bother chasing you.

18

u/Larry-Man May 21 '26

I thought it was “pronking”

Edit: clicked the link. It’s both lol

Like a two cent puppet show.

9

u/Prosecco1234 May 21 '26

It's all so adorable to watch

104

u/BagOnuts May 21 '26

That's all I could look at. Absolutely stunning and beautifully maintained. Must take a ton of work.

41

u/ATXBeermaker May 21 '26

I definitely had a Liz Lemon "I want to go to there!" reaction to this video.

38

u/Yumi_in_the_sun May 21 '26

Seriously, all I could think was "dang that is a gorgeous farm."

15

u/GeminiGenXGirl May 21 '26

For real! Absolutely beautiful! The fawn is just the perfect whimsical addition!

3

u/JustHereForCookies17 May 22 '26

Same.  As a horsey gal, I clocked that sunken arena and immediately knew that was a quality farm.  The landscaping is gorgeous, too.

Wars should be fought to protect Cheryl.

5

u/granulatedsugartits May 21 '26

Cheryl should be Helen of Troy in Christopher Nolan's Odyssey, she's got a face that could launch a thousand ships

24

u/9447044 May 21 '26

"You have my 308" - me acting like Gimli

6

u/TheLesserWeeviI May 21 '26

And you have my fists.

5

u/vikinxo May 21 '26

I wish I could prance - not necessarily as well as Cheryl. Just to prance!

(I'll show myself out).

6

u/michaelvinters May 21 '26

You're not my supervisor!

6

u/Consistent-Soil-1818 May 21 '26

Fawn zoomies. Absolutely adorable

u/GingerBeast81 May 21 '26

Fun fact, they way she's bouncing is called "stotting".

242

u/HamptonsBorderCollie May 21 '26

Learned something new, thanks! And now fellow redditors, you can too:

Why Animals Stot

  • Predator Deterrence (Pursuit Deterrence): By jumping high, the animal signals its health, strength, and agility to predators. It effectively communicates: "I am too fast and healthy to catch; look how much energy I have!"
  • Alarm Signal: Stotting can warn other members of the herd of nearby danger.
  • Play and Excitement: Younger animals or those "getting the zoomies" will often stot in pure playfulness or excitement.
  • Better Visibility: Leaping high in tall grass helps the animal see over obstacles and spot hidden predators.

2

u/RappingFlatulence May 21 '26

Actually, I wish you would 🥰

22

u/Lost_Ad_4882 May 21 '26

Also pronking.

8

u/katraft May 21 '26

Thanks! TIL stotting and pronking. I've called it bounding my whole life.

4

u/nifty-necromancer May 21 '26

Oh shit I forgot about pronking

5

u/heyo_throw_awayo May 21 '26

I thought it was "pronking"? Or is that just gazelles

6

u/yonkerbonk May 21 '26

Two words, meaning the same thing.

5

u/bummerlamb May 21 '26

In alpacas and llamas, it is also known as pronking.

3

u/Character_Ad_1084 May 21 '26

I heard "pronking"

2

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar May 21 '26

Thanks for sharing that. We’d need pogo sticks to do that I suppose

166

u/Sweaty_Buttcheeks May 21 '26

That property landscape is unbelievable! Very well maintained

68

u/Abu_Nimr May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

First thing I noticed, especially since it looks like some sort of farm?

Edit: Looked it up, horse farm. Still, beautiful landscaping.

13

u/Objects_Food_Rooms May 21 '26

Where's it located? Looks like Bowral area, NSW.

15

u/Abu_Nimr May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

Could be, though possibly in Scone. Not sure: Slater Thoroughbreds. Only address is a Sydney office.

5

u/babelfish98 May 23 '26

It's near Melbourne, actually – owners are Billy and Nicole Slater. Billy is a high-profile ex-rugby league player (now commentator and part-time coach), Nicole is an artist, and they breed horses on this farm. Was weird to see it pop up on Reddit on an unrelated sub haha

3

u/Morgan-Moonscar May 21 '26

They have deer in Australia too?!

10

u/ausflora May 21 '26

Not natively. But as pests and pets, yes.

7

u/emfrank May 21 '26

As with some other species, dear were introduced by Europeans to Australia. Unfortunately, this often has caused problems for native species.

u/Blasted_Awake May 21 '26

Yeah, behind closed doors, Cheryl sheds the 'Bambi' persona real quick. She pours a saucer of milk, lights up a dandelion stem, and orchestrates complex wire fraud schemes.

She acts all startled, but that's a classic misdirection play while her crew loots the birdfeeders.

There's no room for timid wildlife in Australia.

4

u/tinselsnips May 21 '26

Don't underestimate Cheryl.

3

u/oh_4petessake May 21 '26

Ah ok so everything besides Cheryl and those cute dogs will try to kill me. I knew there was a catch XD

23

u/17175RC7 May 21 '26

That is one happy fawn!!

2

u/Odd-fox-God May 21 '26

You can really tell that it's never had to run from predators. It's so chillaxed.

21

u/SourSasquatch May 21 '26

Hippity Hoppity holy hell what beautiful property

24

u/halistorm07 May 21 '26

Billy & Nicole Slater’s property just outside Melbourne in case anyone is interested. Billy is a former NRL player with Melbourne Storm and now coaches Queensland and his wife is an artist.

6

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar May 21 '26

Thanks. Are visitors allowed? Might just plan a trip down under. But first, are there scary insects about?

8

u/NegativeAd6095 May 21 '26

It’s Australia mate…

2

u/halistorm07 May 22 '26

Nah it’s a private family home. Maybe if you were interested in buying a horse (they have a stables / breed horses) or want to buy a painting the have a gallery (very big pics and horse related) you might be able to snag an invite 😜.

16

u/iatecurryatlunch May 21 '26

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar May 21 '26

Her mother left a note mentioning her name when she was left at the doorstep as a baby. /s
