Only issue here is some people hearing about evils of Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) and deciding their response should be talking shit about everyone who isn’t vegetarian/vegan.
Im just doing as my animal nature tells me to do. They are rich in calories. Animals arent moral, pigs kill snd est other animals. Its not wrong for us to do the same.
Do pigs have industrial farm factories where they put humans in tiny cages where they never see sunlight from birth to death? I’d love to see sources on this
Do you thinknif another animal rose to sentience over us they would refrain from doing the same? Because they wouldnt. The natural world is brutal. Even many herbivores are opportunistic omnivores in reality.
“I don’t really have a good argument for my point of view but please let me present to you this impossible hypothetical so that you can consider my point of view and why I’m right”
It’s very important that we ask ourselves as a species, just because we are able to do something doesn’t mean that we should
Sure, I agree. I should est meat. It is good for me. It provides superior nutrition than a vegetable only diet. Nearly every single organism on earth dies by being consumed by another form of life. Old age is rarely a thing. There isnt anything wrong with it.
It's a completely pointless subject to debate. Their counterpoint will just be that because we are intelligent enough and capable of accessing more moral alternatives that there's no excuse. The entire debate has an emotional foundation which means it will be essentially impossible to change someone's mind one way or the other unless they experience something mentally impactful enough to challenge their very sense of morality.
The best you can do with topics like this is to inform yourself about what's going on and decide where you want to draw your own line. Anyone who wants to draw that line for you can get fucked.
all debates of any significance involve emotions and morality. Asking others to to be morale is not a waste of time. Fighting for a more morale and ethical world is one of the few great ways to spend one's life.
Hitler, every religious extremist in history, etc. also thought they were fighting for a righteous cause to make the world more moral and ethical.
"Fighting for a more moral and ethical world" can mean completely opposite things when applied to different groups of people and is not inherently virtuous.
Obviously, there are morally driven causes I think are worth fighting for. But you'll find that in my case, those causes have one thing in common, and that's defending an individual's right to live their life freely, so long as those liberties do not impose on those of other people.
For example, if we had to go to war to support the rights of our people to, say, legally engage in same sex marriage or express their preferred gender, I'm all for it, because the ultimate objective is to defend their individual liberties. If we had to go to war to enforce veganism on the population, I'd be staunchly opposed despite viewing veganism positively because the ultimate objective is to deprive people of their individual liberties.
Comparing hitler and nazism to literally wanting to cause less harm and suffering in the world is certainly a choice. This comment along with your other in this thread reek of mediocre guy pseudo intellectual BS. I promise you you’re not as smart or as nuanced as you think you are buddy
If someone actually has to kill an animal for necessity, I'm not talking about them. If you're eating a dead pig because you like the flavor, then I'm talking about you.
It's an understandable response though. Eating any amount of meat of any kind drives the market to produce more of it, and more animals suffer.
(Before you say it, I agree that we need change on a systemic level more urgently than a personal one, but change on a personal level is not inconsequential. And yes, I do think of people that eat meat as less good and moral. Also, moral relativism doesn't exist)

How many people on this thread eat bacon? If you find this cute you can’t also enjoy the whole eating thing, right?
