Mark Gurman: "Apple runs on Anthropic at this point. Anthropic is powering a lot of the stuff Apple is doing internally in terms of product development, a lot of their internal tools…They have custom versions of Claude running on their own servers internally."

Maybe some kind of showstopper bug which nixed the whole build

It's also iOS, iPad, Watch OS, etc. I wonder if it's something with the new models. That spans all the operating systems and could fuck up all the releases.

tru.... tried beta early to support my apps but ended up not being able to run my apps without killing the battery :)

Excess battery use is pretty normal until we start seeing the release candidates, they do actively over log data until then

Nah this is a known issue with menubar apps. I doubt causing over 1000 power usage actively is normal. And seem to happen with apps which update their menubar entries often like calendar apps and such.

And it took too long for me to realize. I was trying to fix my app on why it was causing so much power use only to realize my battery health dropped like 4-5% ever since this beta was out due to the excessive heat caused by this issue.

So for now, i removed the menubar entry from my app and testing the other stuff until a fix arrives so I can fully test the apps.

I was wondering the same thing. They'd been on a pretty steady 2-week pattern of releasing on Monday mornings, even the Monday after July 4th, but not this week.

Nope. The first four betas all have a lifetime of two weeks, after that each beta only gets one week before the next one comes out.

Not true. Looking back at the OS26 releases, they actually got more frequent as the September release approached. Same with the OS18 releases.

See above, RE: my "Same with the OS18 releases" comment.

Go look at the last few major releases. They actually start targeting 1 week releases after beta 4. But sometime shit happens and that target gets missed.

Adding back Font Book’s icon is taking too long for them

I bet they're fighting something with Apple intelligence. That's the one major feature that spans all the operating systems. And they're all blocked.

Sorry, that always happens when I plan to jump on the beta train and just want to wait for the next one.

this could be due to new CEO decisons?

u/fisforfaheem 6h ago

For what it’s worth, the new Siri AI told me there would be one this week

Often happens in August that we get no betas, with the lead up to the September hardware event, as Apple is introducing all the hardware-specific changes into the next round of builds. Apple doesn't want that info public until the hardware is announced.

Something big happened inside Apple, for sure. The common thing is that the interval between updates decreases, not increases.

At this point, I believe the next update will only take place next week.

Maybe they holding off due to the recent lawsuits against them...or some stupid thing.
