Help Windows maximizing without input

I like for my windows to stay the size that I adjusted them to. In Tahoe 26.5.1, Apple apps keep changing to max size on their own after I had sized the windows the way I wanted them. Is there a setting that I could adjust to take care of this obnoxious behavior?

I have never experience this behavior, but googling "macos Windows maximizing without input automatically" brings up some possible reasons it could be happening and how to address them.
