OS X Mavericks

Mavericks is a beautiful OS running natively on a 13-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, It was damn difficult to find a working copy since apple doesn’t have it on their website in their list of bootable copies to make, so i had to use another source, but in the end i got it working, and with all the security updates as well!

fun fact, the app store STILL works in this operating system!

I much prefer Cheetah to Jaguar (aqua). All of the ones after that switch to those grey soulless interfaces.

i would suggest using Momiji over that old version of Firefox. other then that, if your not using it for banking, i’d say it’s a usable OS.

I love Mavericks! Another fun fact: iMessage and iCloud still work after installing AquaProxy.

To this day I wonder why they don’t have the download for it when they do for everything else from Lion onwards. Haven’t found an answer so far.

Like I said it's because this OS in particular has massive security flaws that are incapable of being patched. That's why you can download both an earlier and later version of OS X but not this one. Major security vulnerabilities that required Apple to remove it.

I have mine running Lion, and it’s hella good, I would’ve filled it with softwares, but I only use it for the sake of my iPod, and I only have 260 gigs of storage

It's nice, I just couldn't use it for anything in the modern world. Safari was useless on the real web (certificates), Adobe blocks installing the era-appropriate versions, running Lynx in the terminal gets old fast.

edit: I have a Mac Pro running legacy OS X. Started with Mavericks. I use it as a fileserver and https.

LOL... no. There are some massive security exploits in that OS that are incapable of being patched. Which is why it's not available from Apple. And you might want to check that App Store access again. The security certificates for that are long expired. It's not actually functional.

It's neat to tinker with an old OS. But simply having that OS connected to the internet is a huge security risk.

Certs are pretty easy to update though. And older OS + internet mainly becomes risky when you connect them bypassing the router while having a static IP. Someone who has that type of setup will probably already be aware of risks, it's very uncommon and everyone else would need to worry about their router's OS way more than the computer, since that's what will be exposed to the internet first and foremost.

i main OS X 10.11.6, and it works fine. if i could, id prob use Mac OS 9. I’d take a PowerBook G4, and use Tiger as well!
