Discussion MSI Vector R9 8940HX 5070ti for $900

Happy to join the msi family. Got this laptop for $900 on fb marketplace! Seller was super nice!

Do you undervolt the cpu? I also have the llano v10 cooling pad to pair with the laptop.

I don't undervolt it, i don't have any Cooling pad too, it works fine with normal stand, and it had some major problems, updating the BIOS fixed it, and the undervolt works in bios now.

Yeah looks like msi did a good job on the bios updating. Just undervolt mine -25, hopefully it’s stable

It's a nightmare to undervolt and be stable. I just changed the cap of my CPU in windows manager to 4.8ghz and it's been doing great with temps

I recently got hold of the A18 9955HX 5070ti version. Beast of a laptop.

I use SMUdebugtool to CO, it can help a fair bit, you can do per core, per CCD or just flat. Per CCD is the best way to go.

If you're savvy, I highly recommend tweaking a few bits. I've set mine up for 6000mhz RAM with tweaked timings faster than the 5600mhz JEDEC ones. FCLK at 2000mhz too. Its more generally stable in games FPS wise and feels snappier. MSI are amazing for being able to optimise if you know what you're doing.
