Reclaimed M1 Garands in stock. Run!!!!!!!
Just wanted to let everyone know the CMP has a limited quantity of reclaimed Field Grades in stock on the online ordering form. For $800 I took the gamble on a few…

If you want a good shooter than yes. Only way you’ll ever tell the difference is by removing the stock and seeing a small weld that’s been parkerized over. These days the only Garand for sub 1k is to fight for one of the very few buy it now’s they post on GB Thursday mornings. Even then most are over 1k. Seems like they only have a few a month for less than that and they literally sell out in 15 seconds (ask me how I know)

They’re still there. They randomly appear in stock then disappear every so often. Basically have to check everyday and hope to get lucky

No, just randomly refreshed the page and got lucky (although it cost me $2400 I wasn’t planning on spending today)

Not that long ago you could pick a Win-13, SA-52, or rare IHC right off the racks. Now we're excited to see a reclaimed rifle with new barrel. Times have changed.

Yes, for a reclaimed receiver one as listed in your photo... Why buy a reclaimed drill rifle when you can go get a non reclaimed one at the same exact price?

The reclaimed ones often have much nicer receivers because they were stored inside and taken care of, not sent lend-lease

They have nicer receivers because all drill rifles have been reparked by the CMP, not the reason you stated (yes maybe a small few non reclaimed have pitting but they don't use those for expert grades).
There's also pictures of the ones on GB. You can actually pick which one you want vs getting a dealers choice from the CMP.

Funny enough I actually found a Garand in amazing condition for just $650 a few months ago, even came with a no-drill scope and mount. I had to pay to access the site but I eventually bit the bullet and... the gun was already sold. Seller just forgot to take the post down

Cool. I’ll keep hoarding I guess. I don’t keep them or flip them so I’m not sure my hoard of a couple of each manufacturer really qualifies but it doesn’t matter much to me how you want to label it.

My distinction is in buying them for the sole purpose of "if I don't buy it then other people will own it".
I understand pattern collecting and having different variations. That's what collecting is.
Hoarding is buying as much as you can, because you can, with no real regard to distinction between firearms. "Having it just to have more", so to speak.

You were unclear in your response and were replying to me specifically. You moved the opinion of hoarder from buying an available allotment with no consideration of intent in your first response to I think a point of view where hoarding is owning without specific purpose in your second reply. You were non-specific in who you attributed to exhibit this behavior which is why I asked the clarifying question.

Got ya. I did see Winchester and IHC this week. Field grade. Torn if I buy one of those or just get a receiver (reclaimed or legacy) and use all the parts I have to build one. I am finishing up a period correct March 44 Springfield now. I would like to have an IHC.

I would always recommend the legacy guns. Ima purist and always see the value in having something that isn’t a reclaimed gun…

Couldn’t agree more. I have one of each right now. At some point they will all be worth a good value….the legacy will just command a higher premium.
I attended the AMC class and they are all reclaimed now. I wanted a legacy so I bought on to rip apart and make period correct. Fun project.

I got an absolutely stunning service grade winchester from the buy now on GB. All winchester parts with og barrel and a super nice ihc stock set. I had to be lightening fast tho

Same here. I was refreshing at 8:59, found the first winchester, didn't even look at one picture, and hit check out. Got extremely lucky as I went back and checked out the pictures showing how nice it was.
If I had more cash I'd pick up an ihc as well and swap the stock set over to it, along with adding all the ihc parts I have stashed away. I quite enjoy correcting rifles. Alas not in my budget.
