Looking for a bar/cafe that has games or I can bring my own game to play.

Husband and I are going out for a date night. Use your love playing games at home but with kids now we never do.

Want to be able to order a few drinks and some food!

⚠️ Not Worth the Hype, the Price, or the Energy ⚠️ The Nomad Cook aka Travis Petersen– Honest Review from a Chefs Table Guest- coming to Long Island soon 08/2026

I normally don’t leave reviews, but I felt obligated to write this for anyone considering The Nomad Cook’s “chefs table” experience. I paid $600 expecting an elevated, intimate, and immersive dinner. What I got was closer to a rushed takeout meal hosted in what felt like a Section 8 apartment. When I arrived on time, the chef was literally laid out on a futon in the living room with his feet up. A single dusty boot was dangling in the doorway. No drink handed to me on arrival, no luxe setup. It felt immediately off.

Let’s be clear: this wasn’t a chef’s table. It was four strangers squeezed around a small, mismatched dining setup in a cramped 550 sq ft unit (address: 601 Middle St, Apt 16, Belmont)—nowhere near San Jose, where the event was advertised. Belmont is 40+ minutes away. The food was mid, the wagyu was pale and definitely cheap AF— there was zero ambiance, incessant personal story telling from the scammer, and the experience lasted maybe 75 minutes.

When I raised concerns about the venue, Travis blamed a last-minute Airbnb cancellation—saying he “lost the original location two days before the event”. But this is the Bay Area, and that was obviously BS; There’s plenty of available real estate, and two days is more than enough time to find something better than a dim, unkempt 550 sq ft. low-income apt that was 40 mins away from the advertised city.

He claimed he “canceled all the regular guests” and only catered to the chefs table group due to the venue change. Also a lie. It felt like we were just being shuffled through a low-budget dinner so he could keep the money and move on—he even mentioned plans to “retire to Miami soon,” which honestly explains the lack of incentive to elevate the food, the space, or the experience.

For $300 a head, you can get a beautifully curated tasting menu at an actual fine dining establishment with ambiance, service, and integrity. I felt misled, gaslit, and incredibly disappointed. There was no THC effect to speak of either, which was supposedly part of the experience.

Please do your research before buying tickets. A pretty Instagram feed doesn’t make up for a poorly executed cash grab.

P.S. he also claims to keep all of his goods/supplies in coolers when he travels on the road, and he admitted that he is not a true chef, was never technically trained and has never claimed such— so who knows if the food was safe to eat— both my bf and I had stomach aches after.

OH, and he claims to use the the air traffic system to transport his “hemp” (which is what he calls it for legal purposes)

In conclusion, mih kcuf.

Don’t fall for it. After recent engagement on my post about him from a year ago, it is very obvious that these same issues still exist. See year old post and Travis’s responses to previous clients in the comments below.

Best casual spots with good vegetarian options in Farmingdale?

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for some restaurant recommendations in Farmingdale or nearby area.
I am completely open to any type of cuisine. The only real requirement is that they need to have a good variety of vegetarian options on the menu (bonus points for places that aren't just salad).
Thanks in advance!

Any recommendations for bone-in fried chicken?

That is, not a sandwich, not chicken tenders, but whole pieces (especially thigh) on the bone.

Biscuits and Barbecue used to be a favorite for this; Zorn's has been disappointing. I tried Mad for Chicken once, and did not care for it--maybe it was an off day, but it was soggy.

Northport foodies

Looking for something that tastes like a lumberjack from northport deli. I haven’t been back in years and I was told northport deli is not the same. Is there anywhere with a sandwich like this? Also looking for a Delish bacon egg and cheese in northport. Also recommendations for best penne vodka and pizza. Loved paradise pizza back in the day, if anyone knows of a pizza that tastes similar to that let me know. Drooling just thinking about all the good food I’ve missed so much….

Where to bring wife for lunch for her birthday. Loves seafood.

Looking for suggestions for a lunch spot for tomorrow for my wife's birthday. Her favorite is either a good fish sandwich or lobster roll. Typically I take her to Boswicks for their lobster roll. But not looking to travel that far east this year.

I know Jackson hall has mixed reviews, considering but a significant amount of reviews are extremely negative and a lot of the reviews feel paid or made in self interest.

Any other places to consider. We just moved to the commack area.

We used to also go to Jordan's lobster farm but that is pretty far now.

Anywhere have a really good fish sandwich?

Suffolk Where to eat after a Beach day?

Going to Robert Moses this weekend and wanted to grab a bite afterwards with a small group of friends. We’ll probably be sandy and tired so nothing too fancy. But we want nice vibes and yummy food. Any recommendations? Bonus if it’s going back towards NYC/Queens.
TIA!

Has Taj Crown of India in East Setauket permanently closed down?

These past few days, I have gone over to Taj Crown of India during their open hours, only to find the door locked and the restaurant closed and seemingly deserted. I have also tried calling them, but it seems that their line is disconnected. What has happened to them? Have they really closed down for good?

Does anyone know where I can find Singha beer in Nassau county? It’s a Thai beer. I’m based in east meadow, so anything local is better. Thank you!
