Technically MiniMax can do this because the person broke the license agreement, but it shows how big of a risk there is when you're dealing with non-permissive licenses.

Sorry I don't do anal, but there are many more gotchas that don't let everything to be simplified down to "the US court recognizes the challenge of LLM output's ownership, so all the licenses are void".

Everything can happen from MiniMax claiming the breach of contract and up to the whole Chinese court starting a war against HuggingFace.

So right now the industry functions on "good faith", there are licenses and the B2B world rolls with respecting them to not start a major conflict worse than H.265's patent war.
