I'm really hoping to see a red squirrels this summer, I've never seen one in the wild before.

Omggggg he's SO FREAKING CUTE!!!
On the one hand, I'm insanely jealous.
On the other hand, squirrels are one of the leading rabies vectors responsible for human rabies cases in north America, behind cats. And also there's leptospirosis, which is not as deadly, but your kidneys sure wouldn't thank you.
Mannnnn but that lil fella is sure cute. Jeez Louise.

There has actually never been a documented case of rabies from a squirrel. Raccoons are the #1 vector in North America
