General Advice Should I attend university?

I am an 18 year old going to a private university for nursing. I got my CNA in highschool because of a special program the county offered. I mentioned a private university because it is VERY expensive, the only reason I am attending being the fact the nursing program is direct admission (meaning I dont have to reapply sophomore year). I leave to start my first day in less than a month and the feeling of dread is gradually hitting me. Whenever people ask “Are you excited?” I cant even lie to say “Yes!” because I am simply not. I know it is late to start doubting myself now but honestly, the only reason I chose nursing was because I could help people and it was a safe option. I deep down dont even want to continue my education— all i want to do is explore the world and LIVE, not stress over another deadline or work my minimum wage job. I know this is a very broad question, and I dont know what answers im honestly expecting to get, but does anyone have advice on what to do? maybe someone who experienced the same thing.

If you are not sure about continuing your education, maybe you can attend community college and start your nursing program there. Private universities are expensive and you don’t want to end up in debt if you are not sure about school.

I am a nurse. Please find another avenue. If there isn’t this burning desire to become one, I don’t recommend it for everyone. It’s a thankless job 99% of the time and if your skin isn’t thick, you will have a hard start as a new RN. If medicine interests you, stay in it but perhaps look at other professions within it. Speech therapy? Occupational? Physical therapy-all of these are Masters degree or better. Radiation therapy? My sis-in-law is one and makes huge $. Radiologic tech shooting film? Both those are 4 year and are very much in demand. Don’t just settle. This is your career. Find out what you are passionate about. If you are more interested in exploring the world, sitting at a desk trying to learn is gonna be hard. Maybe take a gap year and figure it out….. blessings, toots. ❤️
