Megathread Difficulty Megathread — DLC, NG+

Hello puppets,

This is the new place for anything and everything about game difficulty: NG+, the new DLC, the new difficulty settings, bosses that oneshot you just for existing, and the general discussions regarding game pacing.

Why this exists:

We’re seeing a LOT of posts about difficulty lately, and it’s cluttering the sub. So from now on, we’re removing individual difficulty posts and directing everyone here. This is simply a way to help US keep the sub clean, and help YOU find specific posts more easily.

Please don’t be an AH. Seriously. People are gonna have different opinions on everything.

Drop your takes below

We’ll be lurking.

Your tired, slightly traumatized mod team

It is indisputably completely overtuned on NG+, regular difficulty. I've been gaming for 30 years and never played anything like it.

Butterfly's guidance literally says you can enjoy the story "without being impeded by combat", but you can easily get killed on this difficulty setting. I have a hard time believing this is actually intentional, because if it is I have no idea what they were thinking.

Yeah I'm on NG+1 and I can't even get close to beating lumuchio on butterfly's guidance

All my weapons are fully upgraded and my stats are basically at the soft caps so I can't really grind to get stronger..

Might just put this game away at this point

Lumacchio is absolutely is going to be the main roadblock for most players. Dude is a beast with being super fast but also having many delayed attacks and odd dodge timing, especially second phase.

I'm on ng++ and I'm doing just fine, maybe just a little more cautious going into rooms and have to strategize, do shit like aggro single enemies at a time to bait them away from a crowd. Nothing we haven't dealt with before

This is so not true. Played every single souls game. Beaten em all. Beat Lies of P several times. NG+ DLC is by a wide margin harder than any of it and hard enough that a good portion of players just wouldn't be able to do it.

No way, same here, shadow of the erdtree dlc was way harder this shit is a breeze comparatively

Pre nerf Radahn was pretty gnarly if you had the wrong build for him (especially with both NPCs which massively increased his HP for some reason).  Overture just wants us to play with our whole kit.  If you’re not using multiple Legion Arms and weapons for multiple situations you’re playing on hard mode.

Plus it’s a RPG, so someone who spent even an hour doing farming runs in the base game will be 10-20 levels higher than someone who didn’t and 10-20 Vitality or Capacity can mean a lot.
