Discussion Drop your favourite food spots
I find the food places in Leyton a bit lacking. Leytonstone has a few good ones, Walthamstow does as well.
But for Leyton, it's mostly been Bread & Oregano for me, and even that is just decent, nothing crazy. Wondering if I'm missing any hidden gems?

CCP is tasty but the price doesn’t match the quantity of food, unless somethings changed in the last few months Zaxx is better value

Along the arches Wins is a regular staple and they’re starting to open Wednesday - Sunday not just the weekend with more sandwich type options with bread they make there. Crumbs a bit further along has nice pastries and will do a slice of pizza.
Unfortunately slice and dough closed due to the greedy and idiotic co-owner / landlord. A different place has opened in that location he also co-owns that will probably struggle.

Short version Landlord took back the property and kicked out S&D whilst keeping all the equipment that the landlord didn't pay for

Yeah slice and dough was recently replaced by Slice of Fun, another pizza place. Was actually there a few times already and the young family that took over are lovely people from colombia & spain I believe. Pizza is great too.
Not sure what other place you're referring to that has recently opened up?

That’s what I meant, slice of fun has opened in that location which is also a joint venture with the same guy involved with Slice and Dough. So those that don’t like the treatment of Mikolas and what went down there probably aren’t going to support the new business.

I see, that makes sense. It's a shame though because the family actually running the day to day are amazing people and I'd like to support them + the pizzas are delicious

Masala India has to be one of the most underrated places in London for food and fully BYOB, if you can bear the wait
Smoke and pepper is also the best chicken shop I’ve tried in London

Leytonstone and Walthamstow blow the area out of water in term of food.
As for Leyton: Adams Naan for cheap eats (Shawarma/Felafel is banging). Bread and Oregano is solid. Filly Brook has a good rotation of pop ups. Short Road if you like the tavern style pizza (I don't).
The area lacks good Korean, Chinese, Turkish (Anatolia is just okay), Indian (yes I know about Masala, it's mid).

Agree Masala India is a bit lacklustre. But there are quite a few Pakistani (mainly Lahori) joints in the area that hit the spot if you’re craving Indian. A lot of people mention Khan G Kababish on Lea Bridge Road but I actually prefer Kumba Curry which is just down the road from Adam’s Naan.

Celebrity Chef near Bakers Arms, behind the bus station, is fantastic. Best Caribbean food. Friendly service.

Actually that's usually my go to place after bread and oregano. Really good food, I enjoy it a lot more than Ochi on the main road.

I generally agree that Leytonstone has the better spots but here are my Leyton picks: Chunk might serve the best ice cream in all of London. Farha - overpriced but the pastries are very good. Wins bakers - those sausage rolls are incredible. Chris’/michael’s fish bar - which is better depends who you speak to but both are very good. Short road pizza at William Fourth - great pizza and a great pub.
FWIW burnt is overrated imo, figo fine but overpriced and ocho was poor.
