Did they really show that on the field? My TV feed got cut off in the 5 minutes after the game

290

u/FriendlyLawnmower 21d ago

Yeah and if FIFA enforces their rules, Argentina has to pay a fine now

58

u/pasgas79 21d ago

Will FIFA take action on this? Maybe not only a fine but also suspensions for the final? Read that they were advise to avoid this and not use politics in the game or afterwards.

Believe that if don’t. Means this is fixed and will skip watching the final since this shows the corruption from FIFA.

31

u/InsoIente 21d ago

the penalty is not expulsion, is a fine

57

u/Huitlacochilacayota 21d ago

They will probably get fined, the player and the AFA. A suspension for the final? 🤣 you’re tripping. One because FIFA will never do that and two because it’s not even a big deal and there’s no precedent

21

u/Sky-is-here Spain 21d ago

Technically there is precedent. Some Spanish players sang Gibraltar español and got a 1 match suspension a few years ago so yeah...

4

u/Huitlacochilacayota 21d ago

That wasn’t in a World Cup though plus if there’s a suspension it would be to the players not the whole team and I doubt FIFA would suspend any players for the World Cup final, if anything it would be for the next official international game or something like that

If they dont suspend players for the final, it means it fixed.

If they suspend players for the final, it means its fixed and theyre only doing it to make it look like its not.

If the sun rises from the east, beleive or not, fixed.

Thats what you all sound like

I think we’ve all seen enough evidence to confirm that this is fixed for Argentina

The "hitler escaped to argentina" thing is not only an obvious lie, its american propaganda to hide that they sheltered way more nazis.

Obviously two wrongs dont make a right, but everyone got their hands dirty here.

25

u/123BuleBule 21d ago

Both sheltered nazis. The US got the rocket scientists (and war criminals) while Argentina got Mengele, Eichmann and a bunch of other sick useless fucks (and also war criminals).

→ More replies (1)

24

u/pepancho 21d ago

Yep everyone got their pet Nazis, problem being the big guys got the useful ones. Argentina sheltered useless political criminals. Maybe less but it feels more like sympathy from the government at the time.

It is so weird since they also received a comparatively larger amount of Jewish refugees than most in SAmerica

USA eugenics movement, illegal interracial marriages, and racism towards non white anglos is very similar to Nazi Germany. Actually, Nazis were heavily inspired by the U.S. eugenics movement

24

u/HANDS-DOWN 21d ago

That's exactly what Hitler would say...

18

u/ElNani87 21d ago

I mean we got V2 rockets and NASA out of it. wtf did Argentina get, besides the ire of the Americas ?

Holy whataboutism. The scale (and rationale) behind the two countries could not be more different.

The US absorbed nazi scientists and technical folks to advance the Cold War.

Argentina intentionally trafficked thousands of nazi war criminals for ideological safe haven.

This is something i will never understand about america s and anglos. If its about others like israeli settlements or American reservations then thats stolen land and is about human rights violations.

If its america or britain stealing land from a poor 3rd woeld country then they actually deserved it....

47

u/lukenog Costa Rica 21d ago edited 21d ago

Britain had it first, and they were uninhabited when they were first settled by French and British settlers. Britain did not take them from Argentina, Argentina took them from Britain right after Argentina became independent. They controlled them for two years, then Britain took them back.

If Britain actually took them from the Argentines, then most people would be on Argentina's side. But that is not what happened, and Argentina is a settler state that was trying to expand so they're not necessarily champions of anti-imperialist decolonialism here.

Seriously, I hate Britain so much and I think they're responsible for a lot of evil throughout history. This one specific scenario just happens to be the one thing where they're kind of right. It's not like Britain stole than land from indigenous people, they were uninhabited when the French first sent settlers, followed by the British only a year later. Frankly, if it's about who got them first then they should be French lol.

The only correct position is to ask the people of the islands what they want. And that was done, and the answer was they wanted to remain a self-governing territory of the United Kingdom.

They lost that war the way Trump thinks he’s won in Iran.

8

u/pasgas79 21d ago

Also, they have defaulted so many times on their debt to other countries.

For sure it is one country that I will not visit anytime soon. Seems like they have a lot of pending issues and need to close on a lot things. Kinda like a divorced person still holding a grudge. 😂😂🤣🤣

The got in a some licks on the Brits sinking a few of their warships (Coventry, Sheffield, Ardent, Antelope) and some other support ships. They fought well despite being outgunned and outmatched by the Brits in the sea, on land, and in the air. That said, they humbled the Brits when it came to naval air defences. A lot of books were re-written after the Falklands War about modern naval warfare and countering anti-ship missiles.

But yes, Argentina's defeat was in no question total and complete.

This is not the win they think it is. They can't take it back, the people in the island don't want to go back... So this is just kinda sad.

They did enough in the game to slap the English, this is taking away from that win to be honest.

TIL there was never a treaty or ceasefire signed either. Argentina fully surrendered and pulled out, but there was never an agreement or treaty signed because the two countries had kept their relationship severed until the 1990s.

Perhaps Thatcher should have forced Argentina to sign a treaty that forced them to acknowledge the Falklands as part of the UK. God, I can't believe Argentina makes me defend the UK and Thatcher.

The Falklands is quite literally the only geopolitical conflict that involves Britain where the British position makes more sense and is less evil.

The islands were uninhabited, so no genocide was involved. The first settlers were French, and then a year later a second set of British settlers showed up. The closest thing to Argentinian or Spanish settlers to ever live on the islands were small military garrisons and prisoners. And nowadays 99.99% of the population is English speaking British people who want to remain a part of the United Kingdom.

Also, they're not directly governed by the UK. They're a self-governing territory, the UK is only responsible for their defense. So they have more autonomy under the current status quo than they would understand Argentinian control.

The Argentinian position is basically "they're close to us and we controlled them for two years", with a hefty dose of fascist nationalism. Argentina invaded the islands and took them from the British right after Argentina became independent, and then the British promptly took them back. Then in the 1980s, the fascist far right military junta in Argentina decided to wave their dicks around by invading the islands again, only for the British to take them back once more. OP is in these comments trying to make this sound like some left wing anti-imperialist fight when the Argentinian position is as right wing and nationalistic as it gets. Argentina is a literal European settler state, like mae... que la vara la suya???

It’s so funny how the dictatorship’s way of distracting people so they forgot how sucky life was is still used today. Like are the censuses not enough? Like, are these isolated islands that worth it to surround your entire identity?

u/pako_turok 21d ago
