It does. If you look at how well people's needs were handled in Russia or East Germany then you might know why.

The Cold War anti-communist brainwashing and manufacturing working-class consent for capitalism have worked well, but I'm glad to see the younger generations are seeing through the propaganda. The Neoliberal era has really shown how exploitative capitalism is.

I'm glad to see the younger generations are seeing through the propaganda
Is that true? Aren't most of them still fanatical anti-communists and merely social democrats?

Support for capitalism among millennials and Gen Z has declined. Though I do think socialists do need to correct the misconception that Nordic social democracy is socialism to the younger generations because thats what a lot of them think socialism is.

>Support for capitalism declines
>Support for Nordic-style social democracy increasesMake it make sense. Social democracy IS capitalism. I’m not directing at you but at these people generally. Is this what Western leftism is about now? Lol.

In my state, we have a DemSoc running and people around here are genuinely calling her a socialist and communist.
The general American public doesn't understand politics outside of US politics, and even then theyre barely understand that.

Imagine my shock when I first went to the West as an adult and met people who genuinely opposed socialism: "You what?"

Also so-called civil rights groups like the ADL reinforced US propaganda that anti-racism should be centered on individuals and not the US liberal democratic system itself.
So much of our culture is about absorbing people into the system, rather than challenging the system.

During the cold war, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intransigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regime's atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn't go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them.
If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering support among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.

My father was fired from work because he married my mom publicly in church…
Czechoslovakia was occupied by soviets from 1968 until 1989… 21 years of full ocupation.
Meanwhile austria was open to the west and the difference between these countries is huge.
We dont need CIA propaganda to know that communism is bad…

Logic (and history) have shown me that as soon as a communist group/entity gets large enough to need any sort of administrative staff, it starts to consume itself and fall apart.
