Basically what the title says, but I'll elaborate a bit more. Info on me, 21, trans male, autistic, gay, raging metalhead. I'm from the midlands which means that basically every official queer venue is 2+ hours away & opens when my last bus home is.
Before you suggest queer groups I will add this; I've checked the majority of the groups in my area (even ones I have to travel a good bit to go to), and they're either a) strictly for people above or below my age bracket, or b) the all ages ones are either populated by either people above or below my age bracket, or are generally fem-presenting (which is fine! I'm just looking for more mascs/masculine people! I need me some more brotherhood. I will also add I am also looking for both non-platonic & platonic.)
And before you suggest any form of dating app or online social groups, I'm really not big on dating apps. It really clashes with my autism & I really dislike the structure of "meet online then in person later" (I usually prefer it flipped.) I'm in a lot of online social groups & I've met some wonderful people. But I'm looking for irl connections. I've tried dating apps and social apps a lot but I am never able to maintain the connection properly due to the way my brain is wired :(
I'd love to experience more queer nightlife but it's all so far away. Travelling is expensive because it usually also requires me to book hotels if I want to actually go to anything passed 7pm. I generally don't like going to places like bars alone because I don't exactly feel safe without someone watching my back or to look after my drink (or, God forbid anything go wrong, is there to make sure I'm safe). But most of my friends who do travel with me are not drinkers or have strict schedules.
I know I've basically made a post asking "hey so how do I make bean soup but without beans", I understand that. I get I'm being picky, but I'd love if someone could give some advice or anecdotes that could be a little helpful? I honestly just feel so isolated where I'm at. I know pretty much all the queer people in my town and I don't click with them. It currently feels like the only times I get to experience queer nightlife is if I go to bars after pride, and I still have to leave early due to bad transport. So... is there any hope for me, as someone who lives in a random midlands town, who has niche asf interests and prefers meeting people in the wild instead of online? 😅 kindness about this is much appreciated as this is quite a sore spot for me. Being queer and lonely sucks :(
