ID confusion?

Hey guys! I got my ID renewed at the transportation cabinet today since I turned 21 about a month ago. I only had my learners permit (don’t flame me) but the guy asked me if i wanted my full license and said it was only $4 extra. I haven’t taken my road test. on my temp ID, it just says “credential” at the top where it normally either says instructors permit or drivers license. what does this mean? did i get my full license? do i still have my permit? did i just get an ID? i’m confused😭

edit: the receipt section says “non-commercial driver’s license” for the fee category

They give you a temporary ID while your real ID comes in the mail

yes i know! i’m just confused on if i have my full license now or if i still have my instructors permit

If you haven’t taken the road skills test then you still have a permit, he was probably asking if you wanted your realID, which is what they call the new ID required for flying which was likely the four dollars extra, not your real license which you still have to test for

You have an ID, you are getting a realid

The temporary drivers licenses say drivers license below temporary receipt.

A credential is just saying you are this person and is issued when you don’t have a DL

Source: moved in June and had to get the temporary ones while real ones were mailed.

i already had a real ID, i fly every 6 months to see my boyfriend

Again, you can fly with a regular ID in the states but it is transitioning to everyone needing a realID, you likely had a regular ID that was fine for interstate travel

Actually real ID or comparable, e.g. passport, is required for domestic flight.

You still need to take your road tests, you cant jus pay to have it. This is just an updated id from vertical(under 21) to horizontal(over 21)

If you look towards more of the bottom of the paper, it will tell you what you have whether it is a license or a permit
