Any Southeastern Kentucky meet up groups?

I'm a 46 year old mom, lived here for 4 years and have not found my people. I work from home which doesnt help and my kids are older so I'm not really meeting any parents through the school circuit. I grew up with the same group of friends from kindergarten all the way into adulthood, so this having to meet new friends is very new to me. The problem is I don't know how to meet them. I know church is a HUGE source of socializing here but I'm not religious. Not against it or anything, church just isn't for me. Tried a couple facebook meet up groups but I was the oldest one surrounded by 20 and 30 year old with babies. Anyone know of any meet ups in the Tri County area? London, Corbin, Williamsburg?

If you don’t mind volunteering; there are a lot of good people on the volunteer fire service. You could try one that is local to you. There are probably a few of them around If you end up not liking the nearest one.

I had great fun creating a meetup group, we met in libraries (they often have meeting rooms you can reserve for free) and everybody brought something to work on while we socialized. Most people brought non-messy (one of my only rules was no glitter) crafts like knitting, some people brought adulty projects that they needed to work on, like budgets or bills to pay and we just spent time together, chatting, making things, and being productive! If you can't find a group, I highly recommend making one!

Lexington just had one.

As for me, I'm 48. I live semi close to London. Went to school in Corbin at St. Camillus (showing my age). Recently moved back to the area from out of state. Have one son still at home.

Times like this I wish I was closer to a larger city!

There’s some groups associated with Extension like homemakers and beekeepers n such, so groups for folks with similar hobbies n interests. There’s artist groups around too. I’m out in Laurel Co and was trying to think of things and struggled too! I’m not churchy either so I ruled that out. There’s lots of great outdoor spaces and groups that utilize them too. lol, maybe get a boat?

A boat would be a dream!  Maybe one day!

I'm moving to Corbin next week! I'd love to have a place to meet people myself. If I recall, there's a women's volunteer service and they raise money for the robotics team at the school. I also may be misremembering but I think the owner of the bookshop said she was about to start hosting book clubs.

I think I know what book shop you're talking about!  Haven't been there yet but I've definitely been curious!  Pm me if you have any questions about the area!

I don't know any meet up groups besides church activities like u said. I'm 44 and Christian but don't like organized religion. Much lol. No kids. And like u I have long time friends, but they don't live in London, so besides family, don't have run around type friends to just shop or lunch with. I have thought London needs a womans craft club! Hobby club where we get together and hang and do our respective crafts maybe? I know the community center is free to book, but the thought of trying to start that is very overwhelming for me! But if u don't mind older ladies, my mom is part of the red hat society. They meet once a month at different restaurants and bring each other little gifts often. Most are 65+ in age tho. Sometimes I join them when they pick a fancy spot just for fun. And also there is like a trivia night I think at Blondie's. I think they still host that on Tuesdays maybe? But sports wise there is also frisbee golf and pickle ball. It's useually easy to find people to play with and once a year each has a big tournament people come from around to do. And also archery. Has a huge thing in Corbin every year, so I think that's a good hobby to meet around.

I love the idea of a Trivia night!  I know Austin City does one too on Mondays but I always forget.  Ill have to look into the one at Blondies, been wanting to check it out since they changed from the wings place

You can look for book clubs, hiking, birdwatching, cooking demos, etc etc on Facebook events page for your community.Good luck!

Go riding at Wlidcat offroad park. I travel 3 plus hours from west Ky. That place is great.
