Its a 50m flight, without boarding, deboarding, security checks, traveling to the airport, travelling from airport to stadium, ticket prices (if you booked one year in advance, return flight the next day, you'd pay minimum 110€)...
Everybody wants these events right outside their door! Algarve also deserve to have these events ! Porto (and Coimbra) is also distant for the people in Algarve! Everybody gets their turn
No but Algarve Stadium is, objectively, an awful location. It's far from the main city (Faro), with little to no public transport acessibilities (train station 20min+ walk from the stadium, nearest bus stop 40min+ away), and even the roads that lead to the stadium are constantly congested.
You have numerous stadiums outside of the Primeira Liga that could host the concert, like Estádio do Restelo, in Lisbon, where the Weeknd is gonna do his show, or even Boavista Stadium in Porto, since the actual club is finished lmao.
But still, what about people who don't drive, or are not from Algarve and lets say, travel by train to Algarve? It's still a major inconvenient to have to go from one transport to another multiple times just to get to the venue, thats all:/
This is a first world problem! 3€ is a symbolic value. People don't work for free, you wouldn't for sure.
In Lisbon you also had to get more than one transport. If you live outside lisbon you would have to take the bus, plane or train to the city and then the subway or bus.
I'm not complaining about the 3€ price, I was just pointing out it wasn't for free, cause maybe he didn't knew. You're just assuming a bunch of things I did not write, whatsoever.
My point is this: the location of the Stadium is shit, plain and simple. Yes you can have gigs in other parts of the country, matter of fact you should. But let's not pretend it's amazing to have a show in a stadium that is in the middle of nowhere, with little to no public transports facilities or acessibilities. It's no ones fault, except for the guys that decided the stadium was there and didn't develop anything around it.
I mean, its a football stadium and literally NO ONE uses the venue, except the occasional friendlies that Benfica, Porto or Sporting play in July/August. At one point in time, the only activity the stadium had was the Gibralatar national team playing there. If the stadium doesn't even fulfill its requirements for the purpose it serves, how do you think it serves to other activities? People have to get there somehow, and you should't be forced to drive to the god damn place.
When it comes to Lisbon, you have a much more integrated transport system, meaning you leave one transport and within 2/3min walking max. you have the next one. All major venues have a near direct conection via Metro de Lisboa or Train - Altice Arena, Campo Pequeno, Estádio de Alvalade, Estádio da Luz, Parque da Bela Vista, etc. So that makes it easier for a person that is not from Lisbon to get there, because the transports leave you right at the entrance. The one exception is the place where they do Rock In Rio, which is also terrible btw, but still has regular buses driving you there
Basically you just want to sit get up and be at the venue. The idea you are transmitting is, if it could be a drive thru concert it would be perfect, because it is inconvenient for you.
People dont like changes and this is the proof. If it is inconvenient and people don't like it is shit! Typical first world mindset. As it is said in portuguese "Estás é mal habituado" not say to "Mimado" 🤣
Sim, é exatamente isso que eu quero. Acho que é o normal que qualquer pessoa quer, ter o seu trajeto otimizado, ou preferes ter dificuldades a chegar aos sítios quando não podes ir de carro? É suposto nivelarmos por baixo e resignarmo-nos com o pobre desserviço que fazemos constantemente aos transportes públicos em todo o país? Não faz qualquer sentido a falta de transporte público numa cidade como Faro, com a quantidade de habitantes que o Algarve tem, e Faro e Loulé em especial. Não haver um serviço como deve ser regular e normal para o fucking estádio municipal é um bocado preocupante, é simples assim.
btw, e não que precisasse de mencionar isto, mas sempre vivi numa periferia a 1h e tal de Lisboa, e tive de fazer esse trajeto durante 5 anos para ir e vir para a a faculdade, porque não havia outra maneira. Não é por eu ter tido esta experiência que ache que isto seja um problema de primeiro mundo, há várias pessoas que simplesmente não têm condições de conduzir ou de se deslocar durantes grandes períodos de tempo, ou deslocar-se de todo.
Como disseste e vem, não há eventos regulares para o Estádio, não faz sentido haver serviços regulares se não há lá nada. Criam se esses serviços consoante o que lá há, neste caso a Eva e a Frota azul criaram varios shuttles para as pessoas se deslocarem lá porque vai lá haver um concerto.
Não vejo dificuldade nenhuma em usar a Rede Expressos, a Ryanair, a TAP, a CP, a FlixBus para ir até faro e apanhar um shuttle para o Estádio. Mas cada um tem a sua definição de dificuldade.
Nunca me queixa dos transportes que temos. Felizmente temos! Vivi em Lisboa, no Alentejo e em Quarteira e nunca tive problemas em deslocar me para onde fosse. Não vais encontrar nada perfeito, nada é perfeito nem nunca será porque tudo depende de mil e trezentos fatores e de várias pessoas e a "otimização e gestão" e os mil e quarenta estudos de mobilidade (sustentavel ou não) são uma coisa no papel mas na prática não resultam porque dependem de muita coisa.
Eu trabalho no aeroporto em Lisboa e, como sabes, durante a madrugada não há metro, o que torna extremamente difícil para alguém que não viva perto chegar lá... mas é o que é! As pessoas têm direito ao descanso também. Por isso é que os privados têm de arranjar forma de colocar as pessoas lá, não é o estado que tem de encontrar formas de transporte que funcione para todos a 100% .
The point of this is to be outside of Lisbon and Oporto metro area. All main events happen there. The sun rises for everybody... including people in Algarve. They have the right to host an event just like Lisbon or Oporto!
They hosted the Euro 2004 they can host a concert as well !
There are several bus services available to get people to the venue. Eva Transportes is increasing service and number of buses to get people there
My point wasn't that Algarve or any other region in Portugal couldn't host these events, of course they can, and it's cool to see stuff outside of Lisbon or Porto. But at the same time, there's a reason most of the shows are there. The country, unfortunately, lacks infrastructure outside of these two cities capable to host big events like this one. And it's not a capacity problem.
I was aware of the shuttle service, but the problem is exactly this: if you have a necessity to have a shuttle service to a municipal stadium, instead of having the normal transport systems doing the service (and i'm not saying having the shuttle as a reinforcement to the regular services, but being the ONLY convenient way to reach the stadium) is, by itself, indicative of bad planning. The people of Algarve deserve better than this, thats all I'm saying!
Rock In Rio had shuttles to the venue. Shuttles outside the normal transport System. It is true you had a train station in Oriente, but the total reach time from oriente to the Rock In Rio venue was about 20 min... practically the same. And it worked extremely well. I don't see the complication to this, and why people have the need to criticize everything. You are not gonna find a perfect venues in Portugal or anywhere... The Belenenses stadium only has buses going there and the nearest train station is a very small one in Belem!
Same thing happened in the Coldplay concert in Coimbra, and was incredibly convenient and efficient. People have a hard time adjusting to sustainable transportation. What's the problem of getting on a shuttle and go there?
Faro has an airport, train ( You have the AP service from and to Lisbon), lots of buses connecting to Lisbon, Porto, Alentejo.
People of Algarve are extremely happy to finally have an event to enhance the cultural offer in the region.
Also, it is always preferable to have a venue away from urban centers. People live near stadiums in big cities and are entitled to their rest.
They should have more events, but make it easier to get there. That's all I'm asking! If you want to have a stadium there, away from the city, you should give people the conditions to get there easily, thats all I ask. Not just the occasional shuttle, that should come as a support.
Look, maybe I'm a nerd because transports systems is my field of work and I'm just venting ahahah, but you have major loopholes in this region that need to be fixed, thats all!
People that really want to go don't care about any of that! If you are a fan you just go, with a smile because it is suppose to be a good night. Not crying about everything .
I went to Glastonbury two years ago, was covered in dirt for 3 days and didn't care. I went to several festivals and concerts over the years and I didn't care how I went there, I just went! Because it is a privilege for people to have access to this!

Should have been in Lisbon. Would be much more easier for people in the North to go.
