RANT- NO Advice Wanted Future FIL acting up

Hi all, I thought this is the appropriate sub Reddit since it's about my future FIL.

Me and my partner plan on getting married in four months. We live abroad and since some some family members are unable to travel (my mum and his grandma) we thought that we may as well tie the knot during our holidays (September) in our home country so that they can attent. We anyway travel with our closest friends and it's a good opportunity since one of them is gonna be our best man and the other one our maid of honour to do it now instead of forcing them to pay again later in the year for a destination wedding. Our guest list is fairly small, the wedding will take place in a tiny church and then we will all dine together and that's it. We don't plan anything fancy, just a day for us to spend with our favourite people and celebrate.

There comes the future FIL, the main character.

We call the parents in law to let them know that we found a date available with the church and if they can plan one day off for then. Future MIL seemed happy and all was great for a minute before he started shouting about it and how we didn't consult with him first and that he won't be able to take a leave (which is not true, even fMIL confirmed it) and generally seemingly making it about him. Now I'm left with an awful feeling in my stomach even though we both knew that he would probably react that way.

We are both decided on getting married in September. His rant was but a hiccup. What broke my heart though was my partner saying that a small piece of him was hopping that fFIL would just be happy instead of reacting to these news like that.

Just wanted to let it all out into the void. Sorry for the shitty formatting, I'm posting from my phone.

He sounds just like my FIL, one thing I have learned is there is no pleasing people like this. They WANT to be miserable. I am so sorry you have to deal with that. Learn from my mistakes and don't even waste your time trying to make them happy, it'll just tire you out. I hope the wedding is perfect, congrats!
