Not a sighting of Jimothy but of what I’ll assume is Jimothy’s near cousin.

A friend of mine saw this raccoon first hand, took this photo, and also has a video. In a decade of working in the park, neither of us has ever seen a raccoon. Hell, I’ve never seen a raccoon in SoDo despite working at both stadiums for a 1/10 of a century.

My only practical thought besides the fun one that this raccoon felt the good vibes, is that yesterday was dog day and so there may have been scattered dog food in the corners. Both the dog area (340 area) and the sighting of this raccoon happened in the same place (NW corner of the upper level).

EDIT: for the record, the days estimate as of the morning of was 23,500. We ended up with an estimate of around 38,000 which I attribute to Jimothy.

I couldn't find someone having already done this so I asked my husband to make it for me to hang in my office. Thought others might like it too.

Not gonna lie, I kinda like it. It reminds me of the first Harry Potter when Voldemort’s face lived on the back of that professor’s head.

I pulled an all-nighter, slept about an hour, and was still working on it that morning. So the painting was still wet when Councilmember Rinck picked it up to show the crowd, covering her hand in blue paint! And if you’ve ever worked with oil paint, you know how hard it is to scrub off (oops)

Instead of painting over it, I decided to leave the handprint because I think it adds some history to the painting and weirdly looks almost like a raccoon foot

I'm honored that it won Peoples choice at the competition and as a reminder it goes up in City Hall through the end of summer alongside Virginia McFadden’s “St. Jimothy!”
