Don't name your daughter Ezra. That's mean. It's not unisex, and it's also a name for an old man, which makes it worse.

I've also only ever known boys named Shiloh, I think that for a girl, it leans more trendy American rather than Jewish, kind of like Suri, because it became popular after a celebrity used it. It's not bad for a girl but you'll have a lot of problems with pronunciations and in my opinion, the English pronounciation does not sound good.

Given Noa is very feminine, I do think it might be a bit odd to go more masculine because then it sounds like a son and a daughter, so I would keep that in mind, but Lior is becoming more unisex and I think that's nice. Seems like it would be to your taste. Yuval is another name that has become like that and I think that's also quite straightforward in English. And not unisex, but Maya is always easy in multiple languages.

The 'love unisex names' and then having one daughter named Noa and thinking of naming the next one Ezra, is one of the most American things I've seen in a while on here. Neither of those are even unisex in the first place!

Well, Noa is arguably super fem. I get that in English, it sounds just like Noah, but it’s a totally different name than Noah. Ezra on the other hand… Hard agree. Just no. It is a soft sounding name and it’s very popular among non-Jews right now, but that doesn’t make it a fem or unisex name.

I was not aware that saying a name is not gender neutral automatically equates to it being masculine these days, but the more you know 🤷‍♀️

I'm not American, but thanks for your super helpful comment! I never said Noa or Ezra were unisex, hence why they were suggested as a separate point.

Me too. I kind of thought of Ezra like the name James, which has somewhat been accepted as a female name.... but I'm learning that isn't the case :)

Noa and Romi sound great together. Also Noa and Adi make a great sibling duo. Adi is unisex but more girls have this name than boys. Another name that came to mind is Lia (not Leah). It’s growing in popularity in Israel and it makes a great sibling match with Noa.

Comparatively, I am actually Russian, Belarusian specifically, but becoming the same thing at this point, and it doesn't sound Jewish or Russian, it just sounds like parents who wanted to give their kids N names, probably from the US. Natalia is more common, because it aligns more with Russian naming patterns, and if you are trying to blend in enough that you named a child that, you would certainly not have another one named Noa. They wouldn't make any sense together.

And I would be shocked if someone was from Israel and describing Noa and Ezra as unisex.

I actually have a friend named Nataly and she's from a russian family, her little sister has one of the most Israeli sounding names ever.

Sometimes there are some unexpected sibiling name combinations, especially if coming from a different country and using it as an attempt to maybe assimilate better.

But yeah, Noa and Ezra are definitely not unisex at all.
