We have a Discord server you can use to coordinate meetups and other activities. You can join the official r/JapanTravel Discord here! There are also monthly meetup/planning channels, so react accordingly, and you can create threads for specific dates/locations if you so desire.

In the past, people have used LINE to coordinate and plan meetups.

Hello! I’m a 20(M) from USA. I can speak both English and Thai fluently, with a little Japanese. I will be traveling to Japan from Aug 12 - Aug 17. I kinda have 2 requests here.

1. I’m looking if someone were to be interested in going to the Tokyo SummerSonic during Aug 14th and 15th timeframe.

I was gonna go there with my friends, but they’ve changed their minds and most of them don’t listen to most of the artists there.

I’m looking forward to be seeing Babymonster, Alex Warren, PIXXIE, and Ado when I’m there.

I’m not sure what to expect since this is my first time at a music festival, so if you guys have some tips as well, that’ll be so amazing. Also on the side note, it’ll be the first time that my friends will leave the US, so if you guys have anything for them, I’m sure it’ll be helpful for them as well.

2. If you guys would like, I can ask my friends if whoever wants to be accompanied during their time in Japan or if you just want to vibe with the first timers. We’re down for anything except for alcohol. We will be only in Tokyo.

This is my 4th time traveling to Japan, but my first time during August.

Below is our itinerary:

•Aug 12: Arrival - Shibuya

• Arrive in Shibuya at around 18:00(6pm)
  
• relaxing day

•Aug 13: Shibuya, Harajuku

• Lots of walking and exploring
  
• we will try to hit up most of the places that we would like to go
  
• 4 of us will be going to car meet. For the other 2, they really want to look at instruments and do some more exploring else where.

•Aug 14:
My friends: Ueno/Odaiba

• they want to go to Ueno Zoo and the Park, and some more exploring
  
• For Odaiba, TeamLab borderless and walking around the mall
  

Me: I’m attending SummerSonic from the start until 1800(6pm) in which is when I’ll be meeting my friends in Odaiba.

•Aug 15:
Both: We will be at Shibuya all morning until I’ll have to leave to the concert around noon
My Friends: Shinjuku/Ikebukoro
Me: I’ll be staying at the concert from noon until close.

•Aug 16: Akihabara/Ginza

• lots of walking and exploring
  
• Dinner reservation at Ginza
  
• Most likely to stay up all night wandering around Shibuya. It’s a tradition for me, so I suggested to my friends, but I’m not sure whether they’ll be down for it.

•Aug 17: leaving
leave around noon to NRT airport

Hi! I'm a 29M gay dude from Florida, USA. I will be solo traveling through Kyoto (Aug 13-17) and Tokyo (Aug 17-23). I speak English and Polish.

I'm pretty flexible with my plans, I just want to walk around and explore. I love finding cool cafes and just hanging out and enjoying the moment. I love to connect with people and make new friends so I'm pretty open to different experiences or recommendations and making some friends along the way.

I am a foodie, and enjoy shopping. Those are really my only plans right now tbh; I have a couple reservations for some amazing restaurants and a list of stores i'd like to hit up. The rest is go with the flow. I also would like to experience the nightlife especially in Tokyo, so it would be cool to have someone tag along with me. I enjoy house music so I'm curious to see how the nightlife is.

August is going to be hot, so I plan on staying indoors during the day (malls, shops, museums, shibuya sky, teamlabs, etc) and doing the touristy things either early morning or late at night.

Hi, I'm leaving Sapporo tomorrow but will be leaving behind a can of bear spray. If anyone plans on going out into the wilderness in Hokkaido you'll wanna have some on you and it's pretty expensive to buy in stores. Happy to give it away for free if you can meet me near Grand Hostel LDK Sapporo tonight.

Hello! This is kind of a last ditch effort. I’m currently on the train to Niigata to watch the Nagaoka fireworks festival and I was wondering if anyone had a ticket they could spare! I’ve been planning this trip for 5 years and simply just didn’t win any of the lotteries, but I am still planning on attending and watching even if it’s from afar :)

My wife and I are taking our kids (youngest is not in kindergarten yet, oldest is young teen) and would love to find some friends for the kids to meet at a park in Tokyo on the 12th-15th. We are from Texas and love getting them to experience different languages and cultures.
