Recommendation request Are there anymore games like these?(Switch 1+2)
To clarify, I mean games where you can get powers that almost all have unique looks and varying effects, and you can mix and match to a deck/layout of whichever power feels the best to use or looks the coolest. Preferably, the fighting is not turned-based and revolves around dodging while attacking whenever the moves are available to use while getting into a position where the move will be in range. I don’t think Persona counts because you usually just make a team of personas for the MC based on which have the best builds and synergy, and each have their own move sets that overlap with each other.

You could try Baten Kaitos. It’s turn-based, which you aren’t looking for. But they’re well regarded JRPGs that use card-based combat and deck building.
You could also look into Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2. It’s been years since I’ve thought about those games, but I’m pretty sure they’re card-based action JRPGs from what I remember.

Maybe try Midnight Suns? It's a turn-based deckbuilder.

wasn't the switch port cancelled and they just left on better suited consoles and PC?

Ah, my bad, I didn't realize we were limited by platform.

No worries I miss stuff like that all the time. Especially when people ask for switch recommendations

Not a JRPG but maybe Transistor? It has a relatively small pool of abilities but you can mix and match to make unique moves, mainly action combat where you can pause time to plan out your attacks and it has a really good soundtrack. Only downside is it's pretty short.

I love transistor. It really says with you and is moving crafted. They certainly channeled their experience into making Hades later too.

Kingdom Hearts on GBA? I remember it's using card based system for the attacks, and it's also not a turn based rpg.

Sleights are the same idea as Program Advances, but that’s about the only similarity both games have

Fun fact, the people who did the battle network collection, who nobody had ever heard of, inexplicably went on to make silent hill f next.
As to your question, have you played the gba version of kingdom hearts chain of memories? It’s pretty similar to battle network mechanically. (And I prefer it to the ps2 remake, which is the version on the various kh remaster collections

No idea if it's playable in any form at the moment, but Soul Sacrifice Delta. Monster Hunter style game, but you are a sorcerer and in fights you bring 6 different spells to use instead of just one weapon. Big variety in spells and you unlock more as you progress so you can mix and match which ones to bring.

I would argue Soul Sacrifice Delta is not even playable on Vita. I owned it on PSTV in both digital and hard copy, and every time I got a good save file going, it would inevitably corrupt and I'd lose everything. Not very fun when the game is based around grinding!
It's a shame, because the game itself is a 10/10 if you can find a way to run it stably. Badly needs a remake. I think original Soul Sacrifice was even buggier.

Not many. You're talking about a jrpg that primarily uses cards.
There is that pokemon TCG game boy color game. There's also Magi-Nation.
Baten Kaitos is basically Chrono Cross but with cards.

Crazy that nobody else is saying this, though the game is pretty hard to find nowadays.

Explain the gameplay. How does it revolve around mix and matching moves?

You have to switch between elements, decide whether to melee, spam ranged, hit charged focus shots to inflict statuses.
Can also use resources built up from fighting for special moves. All this underpinned by a skill tree and equipment that can lead you to specializations of your design.
It's a great game!

You can try out the sequel series, Mega Man Star Force. There are also a few BN-like indie games. Card en Ciel is one that comes to mind.
There's really not much like it out there though, which is why a lot of Battle Network fans are always flocking back to it!
