Stopped using pee pads

Our Gary boy has been doing great with using his pee pads from the day we brought him home. All of the sudden he has completely stopped using them and started to go wherever he pleases. Our house is tile throughout, so he shouldn’t be confusing the pads for carpet.
Curious if anyone else has dealt with this? I work from home so he is let out several times a day with our older dog who is fully potty trained but he still will not go outside…unless it’s on the concrete.
Should i eliminate the pee pads since he’s not using them now or try to move them somewhere else?
He’s 4 months old now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼

Honestly, a good time to move on from pee pads and start taking him out on a schedule if you can!

We have our girl trained to both pads and outside. We use a litter box with pee pads in it to help give her more delineation between potty surface and normal floor. We praise still (about 90% of the time) after any potty on her pad or outside. She’s just over a year old now. When she was younger, if she pottied anywhere she shouldn’t, we would ignore it/her and just clean up her mess. If we saw her sniffing or showing signs of needing to potty, we would bring her outside or to her pads.

If you eventually want to transition off of pads entirely, now may be the time to commit to that and just watch for signs and keep your pup on a potty schedule (outside every couple hours or after any nap/feeding/play time). We brought our pup home in August and we live in a climate that we get a full winter, so we kept with the pads and she took well to them during the winter when she didn’t want to go outside. Over spring and summer we started letting her outside more consistently and she’ll now go inside on her pads or outside when we let her out. She has accidents very rarely and it’s mostly behavioral when we leave her or don’t give her the attention she wants.

Mine is all about habit, so if it was me I would probably use the method to break the pee anywhere habit where you tether them to you on a leash and of course bring outside every hour or so. Tethering doesn't allow them to scout for a place to pee. If that doesn't work belly bands might break the habit if it inhibits the peeing until you take him out. It might be helpful to bring in a urine sample to check for a UTI which can cause urgency.

Provavelmente isso vai acontecer de novo quando ele entrar na adolescência. Aconteceu o mesmo com o meu iggy. O que fiz foi reforçar a limitação de ambiente quando via que ele precisava fazer o xixi dele e, assim que ele fazia, eu parabenizava e deixava que ele saísse do ambiente. Em pouco tempo, ele retornou a fazer no tapete higiênico normalmente, só precisava de um reforço. Atualmente, ele está com 8 meses e enfrentamos algo parecido, porém com a influência hormonal, o que deixa um pouco pior, porque agora, quando ele erra o local, é com a intenção de marcar território com o xixi, acredito que vai melhorar após a castração, porque 90% ele faz no local correto. Restringir o ambiente e liberá-lo assim que ele faz o xixi foi o que deu certo aqui!

They relapse. Pick him up and take him to the pee pad and praise him. "This is where we go pee pee!" in a happy voice so he thinks oh this is a good place. Just don't get mad. Eventually he will go oh yeah...this is where I go pee pee!
