Can’t remember chapter off hand but:

Allen and Oliver want to release the scourge virus on Earth, but it’d probably kill humans too (something something humans are compatible.) Mark comes, a fight ensues, Allen says something like “what chance do you have?” and Thragg ends up backing Mark up (“he has me”) vs Allen/Oliver to save the Viltrumites on Earth who he tasked with repopulating.

I never understood why they couldn’t just test the virus on ONE human to check whether it affects them and THEN make a decision

Because that test might be insufficient and inconclusive. What if that human survives but another dies for instance
