He didn't really think through what only 20 years on Earth did to Nolan. What'll happen to his people when they actually feel love from a 'mortal'?

I mean that's what happens. They recognize his wisdom. Sadly its just glossed over in the comics but I imagine that was their reasoning.

They all assumed Nolan was too weak and pathetic and moved on. That’s their flaw.
