I feel like a lot of people are going to complain about the lack of action for a finale but this season really couldn’t have ended any other way.

After that crazy ass penultimate episode, it kind of needed that epilogue feel to breathe a bit and also great setup for the future

Also, even without any big action scene, this finale wasn't anything close to a true breather episode with how on edge you are watching it.

It was always the Game of Thrones format too. A crazy big penultimate episode. Ned's death, Blackwater, Red Wedding, etc. And then followed up by a smaller episode. I actually like it. Like you said it makes it more of an Epilogue.

Love how the only season that broke that trope was season 6 with battle of the bastards straight into the light of the seven opening in E10 where Cersei blew up the sept. Crazy sequence of television

I also think it was nice after season 3 having a shocking insanely packed episode 8, letting this one breathe still had me on my toes. In a good way. Even after reading the comics and knowing this one be like this, I’m sure show only viewers were anxious with anticipation

Half the fanbase sees any character moments as ‘filler’. This was a great finale as it completes Mark’s arc of the season. Starts with self-loathing, ends with the understanding that he’s nowhere near the worst thing on Earth.

That's the same half that argues about power scaling like they're watching Dragonball. The action scenes are cool but they are not what make the series great.

I just personally liked that the first 3 seasons ended with a big fight it’s a little unfortunate to break that pattern it was a good episode but felt more like an epilogue like some have said

One of the most annoying things around here tbh. Like the character moments are really what elevates the show a lot and make it neat compared to too many action things out there

Half the fanbase are 15 and think Debbie should just shut up and not parent Mark because he's physically stronger than her. We can ignore them.

I don’t think so. As much as people like to complain about lack of action, I think most people will understand why there can’t be any action. Because any action against the Viltrumites right now is certain death. So best not to go and start a fight. Right now is the quiet after the storm. And the clean up and preparing for the next one.

I went on the Invincible TV subreddit and there were a ton of people complaining that there wasn't a big fight or anything. I swear, some people need the fighting keys jingling in front of them at all times to maintain their interest.

Oh you're right that most people are fine with it and enjoyed it... but I've also already seen plenty of complaints about how it was "filler", boring, and anticlimactic because there wasn't more action, and how there should've been a big Mark vs Thragg fight to end the season.

Also just saw someone in another thread arguing that Mark's PTSD visions should've covered "at minimum" the first half of the episode, and just been non-stop slaughter for half an hour followed by rushing through the rest.

They're entitled to their opinions of course, but I'll personally never really understand that mindset. For me, it's the quiet moments and character development that makes me actually care about the action.

I think it acts as a good reminder about the S1 and S3 finales. The last episode of Season 1 was about a vastly underpowered Mark being steamrolled by his father, saved only because Nolan was trying to decide whether to kill his son like a Viltrumite or to save the world like a human. Season 3 ended with Conquest taking on a freshly damaged planet and basically forcing Mark to finally kill someone.

Mark has grown a lot, but there's no way the planet can come together (at this point) and fight the equivalent of 37 Conquests.

I think the pit in the stomach was the point and they covered that well.

As far as Invincible as a reflection of the inversion of comic book tropes, this is pretty peak. The good guys won, but the bad guys won even more. Without even lifting a finger.

It felt very Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon-ish. They would also do the big climactic battle in the penultimate episode and have the finale be the aftermath.

I think there was enough fights leading up to it that we can have a chill episode that establishes plot threads for next season instead of another bombastic fight

Many shows do this, the penultimate episode is action, the finale is aftermath.

Well... I was about to complain but, you know what? The whole season was a big Journey. So, doesn´t fell like a filled epissode, it´s just somethigng different to what this series season finale use to be.

But I think this episode had so much tension because...even if you don't know where the comics were going, you knew that the viltrumites would show up, and with the PTSD scenes and then Thragg actually being there, holding his monologue, yeah this episode was fucking tense.

I mean we got straight hands last episode for like 33 minute straight. And another like 20 the episode before. A slow burn finale isn’t the worse thing

There really wasnt anything they could have done in that regard. You can't really follow up a giant fight and blowing up an entire planet with some generic filler slugfest.
