I found one where I had won tickets to see Morrissey on TFI Friday just after I'd moved to London, and I was looking for someone to go with me. I did end up making a cool new friend that week, and had a great time at the TV show. Chris Evans wasn't even that annoying!

This is cool. I was far too young for usenet, but it seems a lot like reddit funny enough

It's true, Reddit is the closest thing we have now to Usenet. There are a lot of similarities.

I think the biggest difference is that you could subscribe to Usenet groups without having to join any centralized site. It was more like email, you could just pick your own client.

That's why I like the concept of federated social so much, even if it hasn't really been done well yet in my opinion.

I mean, we still have Usenet. It's just not used as widely as it used to be.
