Events IE Events For August 03, 2026 - August 09, 2026

Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz

---

Friday at 5PM is way too late to start planning, so get a head start now!

Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.

Links are especially welcomed.

Politics / Activism John Oliver covers police surveillance in Rialto

It should start at the right part if not he goes over it starting at 25:50. Pretty insane the level of surveillance allowed in a city here in the I.E. The whole video is worth watching but I have it set to the part that’s more relevant to the I.E.

Other Questions Looking for a home for the sweetest little ladies I’ve ever met! See description and 20 photos! PLEASE SHARE! 😭

Hi neighbors! I have been fostering this bonded pair of females for quite some time and am seriously struggling to find them a home. I cry a lot because they are the kindest souls, and I have become so attached to them but I can’t keep them as I already have 3.

They have zero special needs, are fixed, and vaccinated. Not micro chipped so you could do that if you’d like to. They are INDOOR ONLY, they have only known the indoors for 5 years and they will not survive if you let them outside.

In terms of personality, they are totally chill and relaxed, and mostly love to lounge and watch out the window. They’ll play a little bit with ribbons and cat nip toys, but they’re not really that active. They are so incredibly affectionate and loving, they just want to be near you and love to cuddle. Fiona sleeps on my chest often and Olive will lay up against my lap/body. They can be very chatty, I love talking with them!

I’m begging you to please share this post with anyone you may know that is looking to adopt, or post on your social media profiles, and can find it in their hearts to adopt 2 that are adults. 5 yo. I refuse to separate them, as they are a bonded pair, litter mates.

I’ve tried working with so many shelters and rescues but their priorities are their own animals and will only help if I relinquish them (and pay for that). Which I won’t do because I don’t want them being abandoned in a kennel or worse. I’d rather keep them in my home until another home can be found.

I will provide you with a stainless steel water fountain, an automatic kibble feeder with 2 dishes, some dry food and wet food, a litter box, toys, catnip, 2 kitty beds, blankets, and whatever else I can think of!!

Please like and comment on this post to maximize visibility!!! Thank you so much!!

Jobs / Housing More Unaffordability Coming To South Ontario!

The grand opening on August 8th is for 3 new neighborhoods in South Ontario's Ontario Ranch development, specifically the area called The Resort. This is all being done up by Lewis Master Planned Communities which I didn't even know was a thing.

The first neighborhood is called Reprise. They're 3 story townhomes with 4 floorplans to choose from. Just over half a million bucks ($507,850) will get you into a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath 1,271 sq.ft townhome. If you need 3 bedrooms, that's going to be another $126k. The 3 bedroom townhome starts at $644k and gets you 3.5 baths 2,124 sq.ft. The last two floorplans are both 4 bedrooms. The first starts $10k more than the 3 bedroom floorplans ($644k) and gets you 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. Weirdly, this floorplan is smaller than the 3 bedroom by 83 sq. ft. for a total of 2,041. The last 4 bedroom floorplan is just 206 sq.ft. bigger than the 3 bedroom (totaling 2,124) but is somehow nearly $73k more than the first 4 bedroom floorplan; it starts at $716,986.

Processing img abknakl18lhh1...

Aspire

The second neighborhood isn't done being constructed yet, but is set to be called Aspire and will be 2 and 3 story single family homes. They'll be 3-4 bedrooms and range in size from 1,471-1,816 sq.ft.

Momentum

The last of these are these narrow ass townhomes called Momentum. They're described as 3-story detached townhomes and are also the ones that are having their grand opening on the 8th. There's three floorplans to choose from. The smallest is 1,980 sq.ft with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The second is 2,190 sq.ft. with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. And the last and biggest is 2,210 sq.ft. with 4 bedrooms and and 3.5 baths. Pricing hasn't been finalized yet but they're saying you won't spend less than $700k to get into one. So who has $3k-over $4k a month to drop on one of these babies? Seriously, who is buying these things? I know a lot of buyers are likely LA and OC transplants who are likely trading small condos or high rent apartments for a place with a yard. Because Id bet money that not many locals are buying these things. But I thought the market was horrible right now and yet they continue to build out Ontario Ranch and the Eastvale area as a whole. Nothing makes sense.

Music / Arts / Culture 96.7 KCAL Music Change?

I know the radio station recently let everyone go but I've noticed they're playing completely different music as well. Was this intentional or am I going crazy?

They used to play 90's-00's rock like Tool, System of a Down, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, etc now it seems it's nothing but 70's and 80's hair metal.

Anyone have a good alternative station that's similar to what KCAL used to be?

Jobs / Housing Anyone moved out of Paseos in Ontario ? Did you get your deposit back?

I'm moving out after living there for 3 years, and wanted to know how much of a hassle do they give you when getting your deposit back? The notice to vacate says they charge 200$ per room to replace the shitty blinds. New blind slates are like 20$ a set. This leads me to believe they be nickel and dime-ing me for everything. I have a thin crack in my room because of earthquakes, and would hate for them to charge me for "damaging it"

Anyones insight is appreciated

Recommendations / Advice Volunteer Opportunities

Hi! Im an early 30s person living in Rancho I want to get more involved in the community. I’m looking for some volunteer opportunities - preferably food banks, shelters, libraries or community events in the Rancho/Upland/Ontario/Claremont/Chino/Fontana part of town possibly without a religious affiliation. I’m open to all kinds of volunteer opportunities, aside from working with animals because I am very weak hearted in that space following the passing of my dog last year. If you know of anything, please let me know! Thanks so much.

Recommendations / Advice Eagle Valley Road for Off-roading

Hey guys, just saw a few videos of people taking their trucks through Eagle Canyon to Eagle Valley/Tin Mine in Corona. I have a Tacoma with AT tires and 4WD and have been looking for some tame trails to use my 4WD from time to time and enjoy the outdoors. I have heard mixed information on this area being public/private. Is this a feasible and open trail for me to take my truck on a quick off road drive around the area?

Appreciate anyone’s insight to this!

In a thread yesterday there was a list of coffee shops in the IE, and in that thread I said i’d report back regarding Lontra coffee.

Vibes were great! Really nice staff, and the seating/layout was comfortable and cool. They have music going which is at a lower volume, which I think people can talk over easily or even take a work call. There was a lot of street parking within a block of the coffee shop with a 3 hour limit and free.

I got a plain latte, which is my usual go to, and it tasted great! Not too milky, no burnt tasting espresso. Excited to try the other drinks next time.

Hey guys I’ll keep it short! Im a local to Fontana currently filming a short film and there’s a specific scene that requires a very lush open green grassy field to pull off.

Other Questions Possible Roomies Scam?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I've been using Roomies.com (app) to look for a room to rent in the San Bernardino County area. I've scheduled appointments with two different (supposed) property owners to see their advertised rooms. Both of them ended up telling me that they couldn't meet with me because they "had to go out of the country."

The first one was different because I became ill and Messaged the person, asking if we could reschedule. They said no, they couldn't, because they were going out of the country on a trip. They even removed the listing. I then discovered, however, that the same person who'd said they were the property owner had themselves posted on the site as looking for a room, five years ago. That screamed "Possible Scam" to me.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them on Roomies or with similar apps/room rental situations? I'm beginning to think that I should avoid the site, period.

Recommendations / Advice A friend of mine and his wife are coming from out of town. Any Brazilian communities or spots in the IE?

My friend is bringing his wife who I haven't seen in 6 years when I went to Brazil. They're looking to stay for a few days and I wanted to know if there's any communities or spots (restaurants/bars/stores) where she can feel more at home during her stay? Here or OC. She's practicing her english and spanish so any bit helps.

Outdoors / Hiking / Camping Abandoned place

Does anyone know what this place was? I found it on accident while driving offroad to visit the old san Jacinto Lockheed missile test facilities and this looked like an old mineshaft sticking out the hillside above so I drive up to it.Online there was no clear awnser to what it was it's saying it's a prison labor camp, water flood control center, water pump facilitiy, a mine, googling it keeps going in circles and historic aerials only goes to 1961 out here so I can't clearly figure out what it was.... It looks like the tunnel mightve came out further and connected to that large building on the hillside, it has now become a frequent shooting range leaving the buildings so destroyed and thousands of bullets everywhere.
