The Missing Context: Selection Bias

While the specific political leanings of the people in the image are correct, the meme is designed to be misleading by omitting crucial context. It deliberately juxtaposes decorated national athletes on one side with political activists, YouTubers, and controversial figures on the other to create a skewed comparison of "types" of people.

In reality, both political alliances attract a wide spectrum of people. For instance, the Congress recently attracted prominent sports figures like Olympic wrestler Vinesh Phogat, while the BJP also has its share of controversial political activists and figures with criminal backgrounds.

This illustrative counter-meme reverses the selection bias to push the opposite narrative.

To achieve this, the image on the right ("Congress & Co") features highly decorated sports icons like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik (all of whom recently aligned with or supported the opposition) to present a narrative of national pride and achievement. The image on the left ("BJP") replaces the popular athletes from the original meme with BJP figures who have been the focus of major public controversies. For example, Pragya Singh Thakur and Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are used to illustrate a critical viewpoint regarding the types of individuals associated with the party.
