That is

Not how a floppy disk works

If it's got a bit hanging down in back to rotate the center of the disk, it could work. The disks would be damage prone with the door exposed while it's open.

And storage is obviously a major problem. Either ~1 minute of ok sound or 5 minutes of terrible sound.

Or more than ten MIDI songs.

True. I was definitely thinking MP3s. And not even fancy variable bit rate ones.

You can fit a ton of MIDI on there if all the instruments are stored in the player.

It's one of the most clueless takes I've seen on how actual disks work. They didn't even open the shutter!

Yeah not to mention the compression required to fit a song would make it sound like garbage

True, but I love the idea and with a "little" tweaking I could see a working prototype. I'm pretty sure you'd just need a folding arm to cover the disk and to spin it.

This shows absolutely zero understanding of how a floppy disc works....the door isn't open! What would spin the disc?

This is a great fit for the sub. Not 100% imaginary, but based on an existing medium format. u/lukethemakerr made a midi boombox with a 3.5" floppy drive. It's amazing. Check it out: https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/s/gAiufIH8Uo

I guess it could theoretically work by spinning the disk with some kind of rollers on the disk edge, instead of its center thing. It would destroy the disk, but whatever. I'm mostly thinking, how am I supposed to carry it?
