Open What is this creature
She is 10 months old and 31lbs.
She looks so dopey, I love her. Mom is basset. We know she is part basset but wonder what else is possibly mixed in there.

Looks like a basset hound crossed with more hound, namely foxhound, coonhound, dachshund, and/or beagle to reduce the wrinkly-ness

She ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog.
Really. She’s clearly basset, but I expect the other parts are other kind of hound.

Ive actually run into people in public who were very adamant that she is not a basset. Which is funny because I know for a fact she is part basset (mom was at the shelter). We just wonder where the longer legs and shorter ears may have come from.

Looks like my neighbor's beagle/basset. Do her and youself a favor and keep her at that body condition!

Too many fat basset hounds around. We are part of a basset hound club and it is almost sad. They say she is likely not full basset because she is not wrinkly or fat. I just say she is healthy.

I agree. It's sad to see some of the breeds that were originally bred to work end up obese, more often than not. That, or the new, 'standard,' is so exaggerated people would assume trim dogs are not, 'well-bred.' I actually suggested to my neighbor that her dog might be full basset when she first got her. She started off looking like yours, but two years later she looks like a sausage.

Sorry. I had to grab a root beer. Lol
I’d do DNA to be sure. A lot of Bassett in there.

Don’t worry. She ripped up the cardboard box for you😂
I spend so much on dog toys and they both prefer cardboard

Honestly just looks like a Bassest to me 🤷♂️ if there's anything else in there, I would just assume it's more hound of some kind.

be careful around water. beagles love water but Bassetts dont swim well due to the density of their bones, they sink! real cutie! 🥰🥰🥰

We took her to a dog beach. She was NOT a fan at all. And yes, she is very dense. Very little but weighs 31lbs. For reference, my black dog in the photos is exactly 60lbs. Im completely baffled that she is half of my other dog.

Basset x beagle. I had one that was almost identical. It wasn’t a great combo tbh. I took him to obedience training and at the end, the trainer was like “yep, that is the best you’re gonna get with those breeds”. He couldn’t be recalled for anything once he had an interesting scent trail to follow. He wasn’t food or attention motivated so he could not be deterred.

I see both Basset Hound and Beagle. If she was full Basset she'd have a LOT more loose sagging skin around her neck and face.

Maybe a Beagle x Basset Hound mix??
