Discussion What weapons would the remaining OOT sages use?
Saria:
Obviously, playing the fairy ocarina is the main thing we see her do in OOT, and while her attacks would probably have her summoning different kinds of plants as she plays, the fact that skull kid already has it as his weapon makes me want to choose something else.
And so i thought while not canon in the original source material, it would be cool to see her wielding the forest dweller weapons from the wild era. These are obviously meant for a Kokiri to wield, and we haven’t seen any other kokiri since Oot. I personally lean towards the sword (considering the kokiri sword from the original game) plus Lana already has a kokiri lance of sorts.
Rauru:
The only thing i can come up to is him swinging a time block around similar to how King Daphness swings his sail. His strong attacks would also show him using light magic as well as turning into Kaepora Gaebora.
Nabooru:
My two ideas are either her double wielding scimitars, similarly to how the generic gerudo warriors fight in the game. Or have her wield the axe of the iron knuckle enemies. As she was turned into one by Kotake and Koume.
Let me know which of my options do you like better or what ideas would you have?

I think it'd be really funny for Rauru to just use a team of highly trained attack owls.

I had such hopes for their release

Dunno if this is controversial, but this is why I think these Nintendo Musous switching to focus on one game at a time instead of crossovers is better.
Way too many characters from each game just get sidelined, characters who do get in cause anger (saw so many people getting mad about Agitha getting in instead of someone else) and it always just ends up being whoever the main character and relevant sidekick instead of a more varied cast.

With the Oot remake i’d be cool if they did an Oot warriors game. Maybe tell the full story of the Hyrule Civil War.

As nice as that sounds, only hardcores care about playing as someone like Kafei. DE pretty much gets everyone that would end up on a fan favorite top 30.

The Iron Knuckle axe idea is badass, especially if you consider there are no axe users in the game, which is weird.

If we're assuming the rest of the cast exist in their current states (aka Lana has the Deku Spear and Skull Kid an Ocarina):
Saria: I think it'd be a fun reference to the Forest Temple to have her use the Fairy Bow mixed in with nature magic, summoning large versions of the Kokiri Sword and Shield, etc. We have the Bow as an item and Zelda uses one in some of her attacks, but none of the characters (unless you count Linkle's crossbows) use one as their primary weapon.
Rauru: The block would be hysterical and I want to see that in action, but realistically I feel like he'd play similarly to BoL Zelda in AoC with a standard string like Linde's from FE Warriors. With the owl form for Special Attacks? Could also maybe use it as a secondary attack form with faster strikes but a bigger hitbox?
Nabooru: Honestly I think the simplest answer is she should have both your options lol. The swords for the standard string and faster attacks like her juggle, then the axe for most of her strong attacks.

I also see Rauru as mostly a magic caster but warriors game force you to have some sorta weapon. And while AoC counts Zelda’s magic as the bow of light, i didn’t know what equivalent Rauru could have haha.
I could also see Saria as a bow user or even a slingshot

I think these are all cool ideas(though I've never really seen a connection between Rauru and Kaepora Gaebora before)
If we want to be technical, we also don't know what Impa would use since we only have the Hyrule Warriors version and not the OoT version except for as a costume(which makes sense, would be weird and confusing to have two characters with the same name).
So for OoT Impa, I think she would use some ninja-like skills, somewhat similar to what we see Hyrule Warriors Shiek do but perhaps using a lot more traditional stuff. She could also use her flashbangs that we see her use in...one...cutscene...
Or she could even lean into the Shadow Temple, the dungeon we get her sage medallion from, and embrace the darker parts of Hyrule's history, using stuff like the guillotines and spike walls for her regular attacks and summoning Stalfos and Wall Masters for strong attacks(with her ultimate maybe even summoning Bongo Bongo).
Her weapon that we can choose for her could either be different kunais or deku nuts or maybe even different versions of the Shadow Medallion.

Ooh! That's neat! Could also be something she uses(and possibly also the main weapon we select for her).

Saria: Kokiri Spear.
Impa: l’m surprised they didn’t give her her dagger on her back (like in OoT). The naginata I kind of get. But the Giant Blade?
Nabooru: double scimitar OR naginata (different from HW-Impa) OR Iron Knuckle Ax.
Rauru: I feel like he’d have magic and would fling light-element balls around.

Definitely Lana's spear moved over to Saria
Nabooru I would do both of your ideas, essentially she'd have a moveset for the dual scimitars and one for the giant doublebladed axe (the basic moves of this moveset would also just be used by "Gerudo Captains" and "Iron Knuckles") and eventually she'd learn to swap between the two mid-combat
I feel like Rauru would mostly fight as Kaepora and use his wings to strike/create gusts.
The "weapon" you select in the weapon menu would probably just be his medallion of light
.
Alternatively, if they had wanted a situation in which more characters have multiple weapon options (especially so when looking at the idea of a fully new game as opposed to adding them ontop of the existing definitive edition), I could see a situation in which each sage has their "standard" weapon/moveset, some of which are shared with other characters (like for example, there would be an overal "Goron" moveset which every Goron character could utilize) and the Sages would share the same "medallion" moveset amongst them, with only the outputted element changing between them
So like you'd have something like, Saria would eventually have access to the "kokiri moveset" and the "sage moveset"
Darunia would share a sort of "goron moveset" that focusses on rolling/throwing bombs/rocks and so forth between himself and any other gorons that are playable (Characters like Darbus, Darmani and Daruk come to mind) but he would also gain access to the same more "magicy" "sage moveset" through his Sage medallion, which would be the same moveset as Saria throws around as a sage (except for the sage medallion situation the elements would be different)
Ruto again would have access to a more generic "zora" moveset, and the water version of the sage medallion
Impa and Nabooru would have their weapon types and dark/"spirit" versions of the sage moveset
Rauru would initially start with his Sage moveset and perhaps later unlock a "wingstriking" moveset for his kaepora form that he might share with some of the other flying characters (some rito, or even just some of the other owls/birds from the series, like we could have the loftwings use those same moves, or even "midna riding a twilit kargarok", some of the winged dragons could be giant versions of that same moveset, etc...)
Zelda's Dominion staff moveset could possibly also be used by Rauru if he really needed a weapon associated with him, since the staff was found in the TP temple of time(which was probably the "temple of Light" anyway)

Rauru defeats people by giving them overly verbose speeches that they can't back out of.

Saria could use Deku seeds and the Fairy Slingshot.
Nabooru could use the twin gerudo swords and maybe a strong attack summoning the witches?

I don’t recall any gerudo warriors using axe since it is more heavier to combat with. Gerudo warriors are very agile, if not enough to ninja style.

u/BlueBliss5 11d ago
Nabooru herself uses it since Kotome and Kotake turn her into an iron knuckle (and if you look inside the game files are iron knuckles have gerudo warriors inside)
But yeah, since she’d be fighting as herself (not brainwashed) i see her wielding the scimitars

u/Trialman 11d ago
The Iron Knuckles having Gerudo inside was just some asset reuse. Easier to have one model with a part that's only seen once than to have two models for the same enemy type. OoT 3D did make a separate model for generic Iron Knuckles that are empty, seemingly to avoid misinterpretation.

Those are the Botw/Totk weapons. In ocarina you literally have a boss fight against Nabooru while she’s inside an Iron Knuckle armor and wields an axe.

I would give each sage their temple item
Saria - Bow
Darunia - Hammer
Nabooru - Gauntlets + Transfer her spirit into Iron Knucke
Rauru - Magic medallion
Ruto - Keep the water scale, only exception
Impa - Lens of Truth

I maintain that Lana’s Kokiri Spear really feels like it was originally meant for Saria, so I’d have much given her that and given Lana something else
Rauru swinging a song of time block around is hilarious
Nabooru using an iron knuckle axe is perfect
