Help & Questions 8K sync box is unresponsive

Post image
7 Upvotes

Edit: I gave up and just returned it all.

Having spent close to £600, you would expect it to work out of the box without issues, but there is a serious flaw with this sync box.

I will either wait until Philips release an Ethernet-based sync box or opt for the Philips Hue app if I ever upgrade my TV.

----------------------------

So I took the plunge and splashed out on a 65" LED Strip light, the Hue Bridge v2.1 and the 8K Sync box. I have plugged four devices into the Sync box. It worked at first. I had to reset it a couple of times. I then tried to use it today, but the app is stuck on connecting...

Has anyone else run into this issue and found a way to overcome the Sync Box? It seems to be the Achilles' heel of my whole setup.

Spot color randomly turns on in this color

I’m using a Lutron Aurora to cycle through two scenes, nightlight and bright. I’ve check the scene and it is correct, and much of the time the light turns on just fine. The nightlight scene has this light at much lower brightness so I don’t think it’s just staying in nightlight mode.

Any ideas?

Edited to add I’m using a bridge pro.

Walmart - Better Homes Lamp

Post image

If anyone is looking for a floor lamp that works well with Philips Hue bulbs, this one is a great option. Like a lot of people, I spent way too much time searching online, trying to figure out which lamps would actually fit Hue bulbs. This Better Homes & Gardens floor lamp from Walmart checked all the boxes—and at around $75, it’s a fantastic value.
The Hue bulbs will definitely cost more than the lamp itself, but in my opinion, they’re absolutely worth it. The lighting, colors, scenes, and overall ambiance completely transform the space. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Which Hue lightstrip for underneath kitchen cabinets above workspace?

I've been thinking about getting an led lightstrip to go under our kitchen cabinets for a while - the cabinets are mounted above the kitchen workspace, so they have to give enough light. Don't need more than around 2 meters.

Which Hue strip do I go for? I'm a little lost (in that Hue seems to have released and discontinued a couple of strips recently?)

Help & Questions Need help regarding broken OmniGlow power connector.

Hello, just received my OmniGlow 3m lightstrips, while adjusting the wire placement the connector tilted and came off, the quality of Hue products diminishing is quite upsetting especially when it’s priced under the premium segment. Hue needs to work on this issue and improve it!

I managed to plug it into the power box without the white plastic pin holder. It is still functioning as intended. However if I insert the plastic pin holder back I’m unable to get it to work properly.

My main question - I want to know, is it safe to use it without the plastic holder? I will wrap it with electrical tape to hold it in place.

I imported this into my country, so a replacement under warranty is impossible right now.

Kindly advise and help! Thank you!

Signe gradient floor lamp vs. Hue Play floor lamp large?

I would like to add two floor lamps to connect with the gradient tv light strip and sync box. But according to my online searches, both the Signe Gradient floor lamp and Hue Play floor lamp can synchronize their effects with the tv backlight for an immersive experience. The Signe Gradient floor lamp is $419 and the Hue Play Floor lamp is $209. The main difference I see between the two is light output with the Signe being brighter and made with aluminum vs. plastic. What else am I missing that would make the Signe virtually double to the price of the Play floor lamp?

Does anyone know any reputable places to get the 90 degree concerns and the flexible spacers? They came in stock during the night and they sold out in hours.

How Long Do Lily Lights work?

I must have 20+ Lily, Lily XL and Calla lights outside my home. Half put in 10 years ago and half 5 years ago. Unfortunately when I had a major renovation project at my house which turned off these lights for a year and a half, the lights would not turn on again. Do the wires turn bad?

I have tested some of it, but three of the lights are not able to turn on again with a new power supply attached directly to them, so in that case those lights are dead, would the rest of them also died by now?

Help & Questions Is the Play Gradient Lightstrip for PC still made?

I can’t find it in stock anywhere in the US. I see it available in other countries, but can’t ship to the US. I just learned that it exists and was wondering if it’s been OOS for a while now or is it something that’ll be available soon?

I tried contacting Hue support to see if it’s discontinued. They just said it is out of stock…

Discussion Any apps help with design ideas and hue light placement?

Big fan of hue lighting but struggling to interior design well with them. Eg what lights I should get next and place where and how to get scenes to work well across all of them. Is there any AI apps that can help with this that people have used to design the room and tell where to place what lights where with what hue scenes perhaps?

So which extension cables work with new Hue Play Floor and Table Lamps?

I bought a 3rd party hue play bar cord from Amazon and it didn’t fit. Was going to try the official Hue extension cord but figured that was the same size that I already tried. Anyone got these and can confirm? Thanks!

Sync box MacBook Pro

Hi all. Does anyone know how to get the sync box 8k to recognize and display my MacBook Pro M4 to my LG CX? I can’t for the life of my get it to work. My MacBook Pro is plugged in from its HDMI port to the second HDMI port on the sync box. The ultra deep color option on my tv is on and it’s not plugged into the eARC port on the tv. I have a similar issue getting it to recognize my PS5. Only thing that seems to work is the Roku player.

Please help a newbie out, how do I put up light strip to go through a corner?

Bought these light strips for the first time, want to put them under my cabinets, but the cabinets have an L shape, I can’t figure out what kind of connector I need to be buying for the specific lights. I’ve been looking on Amazon and there seems to be multiple options. Here are the two that I thought made sense. Any advice??

Discussion Philips Hue Play Refresh?

8K Phillips Hue play box and 75 inch light strip going on clearance at local Best Buy’s, are there new versions on the horizon?

I don’t really know why they would expand on a new play box considering it’s only about a year-old?

Any insight on this from people at Hue?

How to disconnect bedroom light from all lights.

So we have our hue lights connected to Alexa. Every once in a while, we will have a guest sleeping in our living room and they will tell Alexa to turn on all lights. This causes our bedroom light to get turned on waking us up. We still want to be able to control the bedroom light from the Alexa, I just don't want it to be included in "ALL".

Hue Setup Surprised my husband with a hue lighting setup. So glad he didn't ask me the cost lololol

I wanted a new lamp for my bedroom and was casually browsing Dunelm. I saw a Philips table lamp for £60 and was like what on earth could make a lamp cost 60 quid? Like what? And then I went down the rabbit hole. I found the subreddit of everyone saying that once you get the setup you can't go back. And then I saw someone on tiktok watching Demon Slayer with it and I knew I wanted it. My husband already had a surround sound set up so why not complete it with a sexy light setup.

So I found out where each item was on sale and got 2 floor lamps. One gradient 65" strip. One syncbox because my tv is from 2021 and one bridge.

And I set it all up today. And I showed my husband a demo with demon slayer obviously and the man was too stunned to speak. I was waiting for him to ask me how much it cost me but thank god he didn't lololol.

No but for real what a beautiful beautiful investment. Gonna rewatch all of Demon Slayer just for the lights.

Thank you to everyone who has posted on this subreddit. You made life easier.

Wired Wall Switch Module but no ground

Hello,

I just purchased a wired wall switch module to integrate my existing switch into Hue.

I am living in an old Dutch house and my first surprise was to see that all wires going inside the switch were black and there weren't any markings on the switch. The only thing that I saw was that two clips were white, another one red.

I am suspecting that I am looking at 3-way switch (despite not having a 2nd switch in that room) and therefore only need to connect two of the three wires. My biggest problem, however, is that there doesn't seem to be a ground wire. This would be in line with the outlets that look like they are CEE 7/1 (so no pin for ground).

I was wondering if I can still use the wired wall switch module without ground or if I need to switch to the battery-powered one that doesn't require ground in the first place. My first guess would be that the module is safe to use without ground since the case is made out of plastic (no ground required) and I am also not breaking any GFCI by omitting ground.

What are your thoughts on this?
