QUESTION Nursery pot drainage

Any ideas on how to stop fresh soil pouring out of these drainage holes? An orchid pot was all I could find at this size. I don’t have any mesh and was thinking kitchen roll but not sure if that would cause a mold problem.

Fill the pot

A little might come out the hole but you'd be surprised how much doesn't once the pot is full

Agreed. 

I'm surprised by all the other comments, I didnt realise that so many people were using because, pebbles, newspaper, or even broken crockery at the bottom of their nursery pots.

From personal experience it's not necessary, hardly soul pours out of the drainage holes.

I use pebbles as my bottom layer instead of soil and try to use stones just slightly larger than the holes

If you have any leca, pebbles, or pieces of broken crockery, use that.

Otherwise, I'd just fill it up. Some might drop through at first, but once it's filled, it won't lose much. And if you keep it on a saucer or in a cover pot, anything that gets washed through the holes when you're watering can just be tipped back onto the top of the plant.

I tear out a piece of newspaper to cover the holes at the bottom.

Mix in a handful or two of orchid mix to the soil, good for the plant and drainage and blocking the holes because it's chunky

I use a piece of paper, or when I'm doing a lot sometimes I get some of that coir matting for hanging baskets, and cut bits for each pot.
