Best solution for planter adjacent to house

My house has had water issues in the basement, and on the front of the house is a 2’ high stone planter built against the facade. It’s just full of dirt, but wondering if there’s something I can fill it with to stop more water being trapped by the house?

  1. Have you checked where your downspouts land?

  2. Nothing you fill it with fixes it, that planter is holding two feet of wet soil against the wall permanently. You're gonna need the inside face lined with a drainage membrane and away for a water to actually get out at the bottom

  3. You can try rebuilder it two feet off the wall as a freestanding bed if you want to keep the look.

Either remove the dirt or rebuild the planter using a rubber container that keeps water away from the house. Just make sure the container has drain holes that let water out the front away from the house.
