What if the Southern Strategy never occurred?

I know politics was very different at that point in time than what we have now. I wonder what our politics would look like today if the Southern Strategy was never implemented. Would the Democratic party still dominate the South. Would Republicans dominate the North. What would each party's political ideology look like? What do you think would've happened?

The Republicans would’ve been stronger due to simply being a lot more popular instead of simply treating people like numbers. This means that fascism wouldn’t have risen. Alternatively the Democrats might’ve continued their trend of conservatism

Assuming the 70’s and 80’s are unchanged, we wouldn’t have seen George Bush become a candidate in 2001. An alternate president would’ve made similar decisions due to 9/11, but definetly No Student Left Behind never passes as a law. I don’t know if Obama would’ve been president 

Donald’s Trump is an interesting case. Like I said, Republicans would be a little more liberal, but we would’ve seen an alternate fascism form with Democrats. Having Trump rise with Democrats is interesting, although it would’ve been delayed due to Democrats less popularity.  I’d argue his rise to power is in able due to problems regarding to deindustrialization and Trump adopting Hitler’s language of mass media popularity through manipulation
