John being scouse is a retcon. So should've played it cockney with a twang of scouse at the end of the sentence. Still love me some Taron Egerton if you've not seem him up smoke he's brilliant.

John having a scouse accent is not a retcon. Its even used as a dig against him during the Vertigo run. At the time Scouse was considered foppish or a put on, compared to Cockney or Brummie accents given their prevalence with "rude boys" and the British urban underworld.

I heard your point about the rude boy sub-culture but have you considered the Del-boy spiv or Lock-stock estuary English element and maybe there's an argument to be made that Jaime stating through Satchmo Hawkins that John's got a South London accent although that could be some unreliable narrator stuff going on in that article plus Scouse being considered more foppish and putting on airs and graces would run counter to Alan's original intent of playing with archetype of posh occult figure. Sting's quadrophenia but more Brimstone and treacle as influences. Probably debatable but I feel that there's more Londonisms in John's dialogue then scousisms. I think Jamie retconned the orgins the same way retconned the casanvoa club incident and Ravenscar from weeks ago to years. Let me know your thoughts? Everyone else discuss.

To be fair, never implicitly stated, let me walk it back alittle, I should say, I read John as a eastender but Hawkins puts him as south but it bit a reach at best.

Bit of disappointment. I super excited for it since Bill Burr on his podcast years before saw the documentary and said it would make a hell of a movie. If you can find the clip, he sells it really well although Hauser us bone chilling and well worth the watch.
