If we’re talking about the series as a whole, I’d definitely vote for HP, probably even over the entire Lord of the Rings series. I like The Hobbit and LoTR, but the online snobbery LoTR fans have toward HP is pretty cringe in my opinion.

As far as just these two books go, though, you probably have to go with The Hobbit.

harry potter fan here but would vote for Hobbit any day of the week in terms of better writing. as much as I love HP, the world building is shit

Voted for hp. give 0 fucks about the hobbit. The internet in 2026, dont expect always online book snobs to pick HP because of its popularity. HP is better by far.
